Is the graffiti workshop safe for primary school children?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority at Graffitifun. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective suits for every student. Our professional artists are trained to supervise groups closely, ensuring everyone uses the spray cans correctly. We also use low-odour, high-quality paints that are safer for younger participants while still providing that authentic street art feel. Your kids are in expert hands!

How long does a typical after-school session last?

Our typical after-school sessions in Takoradi last about 2 hours, but we are totally flexible! We can adapt the timing to fit your school's specific extracurricular schedule, whether you need a quick 90-minute burst of energy or a more intensive 3-hour masterclass. We find that 2 hours is the 'sweet spot' for keeping energy high while allowing enough time for a masterpiece to come to life.

Do the kids need any prior art experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for everyone, from the next Picasso to those who have never touched a spray can before. Our artists break down the process into simple, easy-to-follow steps. We focus on 'controlled chaos' and creative expression, so every student will walk away with something they are proud of, regardless of their initial artistic talent or experience level.

What materials do you provide for the workshop?

The short answer is: everything! We bring the premium spray paint, various nozzle sizes (caps), gloves, masks, and protective body suits. We also provide the 'canvas'—which could be large plastic film stretches, wooden panels, or even a designated school wall if you've given us the green light. You just need to provide the space and the enthusiastic students; we handle the messy bits!

Where can the workshop take place?

We can set up almost anywhere with good ventilation. Most Takoradi schools prefer us to work outdoors on the playground, under a shaded canopy, or in a well-ventilated sports hall. If you're worried about the mess, don't be! We use protective floor coverings and 'cling-film walls' to ensure that the only thing getting painted is the intended artwork. We leave every location exactly as we found it.

What are the educational benefits of mural making?

We believe in 'education through fun.' While the kids are busy tagging, they are also learning about colour theory, composition, the history of urban art, and the importance of respecting public space. Our workshops encourage teamwork, boost self-confidence, and help develop fine motor skills. It’s an empowering way for students to see their ideas manifested on a large, vibrant scale.

How do we book a session for our Takoradi school?

Booking is easy! Simply reach out via our contact form to request a quote. Because we have a team of backup artists ready to go, we can usually accommodate last-minute bookings, though we recommend getting in touch 2-4 weeks in advance for popular time slots. Best of all, there is no upfront payment required—you only pay after the workshop is successfully completed!

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next after-school programme? It’s more than just painting; it's about building confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love for the arts. Here’s why Takoradi schools are loving our sessions:

Ultimate self-expression: Giving kids a 'giant wall' helps them express emotions and ideas that a small piece of paper just can't contain! 🚀
Teamwork makes the dream work: Our group murals require students to communicate, collaborate, and respect each other's space. 🤝
Boosts confidence: Seeing a professional-looking piece of art that they created gives students an incredible sense of achievement. 🏆
Professional mentorship: Our artists aren't just teachers; they are active creators who inspire kids with real-world skills. 🎤
Stress relief: Spraying paint is a fantastic sensory experience that helps students unwind after a long day of academic study. ✨
Zero risk: With our 'pay after the workshop' policy and backup artist guarantee, your school's event is in safe hands. 💪

Step by step

Introduction & safety briefing: We kick things off with a quick chat about the history of street art and a vital safety demo on how to use the gear properly.
Concept sketching: Students grab paper and markers to brainstorm their ideas, learning how to turn a small sketch into a large-scale vision.
The tag creator: We show the kids how to use our digital Tag Creator tool to experiment with different lettering styles before hitting the wall.
Instruction on techniques: Our pros demonstrate 'fading', 'outlining', and 'dots'—the core skills every graffiti artist needs in their locker.
The first layer: Time to shake the cans! Students start by filling in the large shapes of their design under the guidance of our artists.
Refining the details: This is where the magic happens. We add shadows, highlights, and sharp outlines to make the artwork pop.
Final touches & group photo: We stand back, admire the work, and capture the moment with a high-energy group photo in front of the new mural.
Clean-up & pack-down: We handle all the clearing up, ensuring the school grounds are left spotless and the students head home inspired.

Local culture

Takoradi, affectionately known as 'Taadi', is a city that beats with a rhythmic, creative pulse. From the vibrant masquerade festivals to the colourful fishing boats along the coast, the local culture is a masterclass in visual storytelling. Our graffiti after school sessions tap into this local spirit, encouraging students to incorporate Ghanaian symbols, 'Taadi' pride, and West African aesthetic patterns into their modern street art. We love seeing how students from Takoradi schools blend traditional influences with contemporary urban styles!

Fun Fact: Did you know Takoradi is famous for its annual 'Fancy Dress Festival' (Masquerade)? The same level of costume detail and vibrant colour lives in every mural we create with the local kids! 🎭
