The experience

Why bring a graffiti workshop to your Gold Coast primary school? It’s more than just spraying paint; it’s about building confidence and seeing the world in a different way! ✨

  • Boosts creativity: Encourages students who might struggle with traditional art to find their voice.
  • Promotes teamwork: Our collaborative murals require students to work together to create something massive. 🤝
  • Safety first: We use safe, low-toxicity materials specifically designed for younger users.
  • Physical activity: It’s a dynamic, standing-up activity that gets the kids moving and using their motor skills.
  • Curriculum aligned: Our workshops can be tailored to meet visual arts outcomes for the Australian curriculum. 📚
  • Community pride: Students feel a huge sense of achievement seeing their work displayed on school grounds.

Step by step

  1. Introduction & safety: Our professional artists meet the students and explain the history of street art and the importance of safety and respect.
  2. Mastering the can: Kids learn how to hold a spray can properly and how different nozzles (caps) create different lines.
  3. Doodling & shapes: Students start with basic exercises like dots, lines, and squares to get a feel for the pressure and distance.
  4. The 'Tag' creation: Every student works on their own unique 'tag' or nickname, learning about letter structure and flow.
  5. Filling & fading: We teach the secrets of 'filling in' and creating smooth colour gradients (fades) for a 3D effect.
  6. Outlining: The kids learn the steady hand required to outline their work, making their art pop off the wall.
  7. The masterpiece: Students work together on a large collaborative mural or finish their individual canvases to take home.
  8. Group photo & cleanup: We wrap up with a celebratory group photo in front of the art and ensure the site is left spotless.
