Is the spray paint safe for primary school children?

Safety is our number one priority! We provide high-quality protective gear, including masks, gloves, and overalls. We also use low-odour spray paint where possible and always conduct workshops in well-ventilated outdoor spaces. Our professional artists are experienced in managing large groups of children and provide constant supervision to ensure everyone stays safe while having a blast.

Will this encourage children to spray graffiti on local buildings?

Absolutely not! We focus on the artistic and positive side of street art. Our workshops teach students about the history of the movement and the difference between illegal vandalism and commissioned public art. We encourage them to use their new skills for community beautification and personal expression in a respectful, legal manner. It's all about positive creativity!

Do the students need any prior art experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for complete beginners. Our expert artists break down the process into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Whether a student is a natural-born artist or hasn't picked up a paintbrush before, we guarantee they will create something they are proud of by the end of the session. It's about participation and fun!

What equipment does the school need to provide?

We provide everything! This includes all the premium spray cans in a rainbow of colours, protective masks, gloves, and overalls to keep school uniforms clean. We also provide the canvases or boards that the children will paint on. The school just needs to provide an outdoor space and a group of excited students ready to get creative.

What is the maximum group size for a Nausori workshop?

The beauty of our workshops is their flexibility. While we can work with small classes, we are also equipped to handle entire year groups or even the whole school over a series of sessions. We bring along extra backup artists for larger groups to ensure every child gets the attention and guidance they need to succeed.

How long does a typical workshop last?

A standard primary school workshop usually lasts between 2 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a health and safety briefing, a demonstration of basic techniques, practice time, and the creation of the final masterpiece. We can also adjust the timing to fit into your school’s specific timetable if needed.

What happens if it rains on the day of the workshop?

We’ve got you covered! While Fiji's weather is usually beautiful, we always have a plan B. If the weather doesn't play ball, we can either reschedule the session at no extra cost or move the workshop to a covered outdoor area that is well-ventilated. Our backup artist system also ensures that we never cancel on you last minute.

The experience

Why choose a Graffitifun workshop for your school?

We believe that every child has a creative spark waiting to be ignited. Our workshops aren't just an art lesson; they are a high-energy experience that students will talk about for years to come! Here’s why Nausori schools love working with us: 🔥

Boosts Confidence: Seeing a giant, colourful mural come to life helps kids realise what they can achieve with a bit of guidance and imagination.
Physical & Creative: It’s a great way to get students out of the classroom, moving around, and using their hands to create something tangible.
Teamwork in Action: Our large-scale mural projects require students to communicate and work together to create a cohesive piece of art. 🤝
100% Professional: Our artists are experts at their craft and know exactly how to guide primary-age children in a fun, safe, and encouraging way.
Stress-Free Planning: From providing all the gear to our "pay later" policy, we make the booking process as smooth as possible for teachers.
Lasting Impact: Whether it’s a permanent mural on a school wall or canvases the kids take home, the memories of the day will stick around forever! 🏆

Step by step

Introduction & Safety: We kick things off with a high-energy intro, explaining the plan for the day and getting everyone fitted with their protective masks and gloves. Safety first!
The Art of the Can: Our pro artists demonstrate how to hold a spray can, control the pressure, and create different line widths. It's easier than it looks when you know the tricks!
Practice Makes Perfect: Students get a chance to practice basic shapes and lines on practice boards, getting a feel for the paint before they start their main project.
Sketching the Vision: Every great mural starts with a plan. We help the kids sketch out their ideas, focusing on bold letters and vibrant characters.
Filling & Shading: This is where the magic happens! The students start filling in their designs with colour, learning how to blend shades and add cool gradients.
The Outline: To make the artwork pop, we teach the children how to add sharp outlines. This defines the piece and gives it that professional street art look.
Final Details & Highlights: We add those "sparkles" and highlights that make the art come alive. Every student adds their own unique flair to their work.
The Big Reveal & Photos: Once the paint is dry, we step back to admire the collective masterpiece. It’s the perfect time for group photos and proud smiles!

Creative collaboration during a graffiti company outing

Local culture

Nausori is a town known for its vibrant energy and its role as a bustling hub near the Rewa River. Just as the famous Rewa Bridge connects people, our workshops connect young students through the universal language of art. While Fiji is world-renowned for its traditional crafts, there is a growing appetite for contemporary street art in urban centres like Nausori. We love bringing this modern flair to the local community, inspired by the lush greens of the surrounding hills and the bright blue of the river. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know that the Nausori area was historically a major centre for the sugar industry? Today, we’re swapping the sweetness of sugar for the "sweet" visuals of professional graffiti art! 🍬✨
