Is spray painting actually safe for primary school children?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority. We use low-odour, water-based spray paints specifically designed for younger users whenever possible. Every student is provided with a high-quality mask, gloves, and a protective suit to keep their school uniforms clean. Our professional artists are experts at managing large groups of energetic children, ensuring that everyone follows the safety rules while having the time of their lives. We make sure the environment is spark-free and well-ventilated for total peace of mind.

What should the students wear on the day of the workshop?

We recommend wearing old clothes and sneakers, just in case! While we provide full-body protective suits, gloves, and masks, kids have a magical way of getting paint in unexpected places. Our suits cover most of the outfit, but it's always better to be safe than sorry when dealing with vibrant graffiti pigments. If a little paint does get on skin, don't worry—it washes off with a bit of soap and warm water!

Do the kids need to have any artistic talent or experience?

Not at all! Our Penang workshops are designed for all skill levels, from the 'I can't draw a stick figure' group to the budding young Picassos. Our artists break down the process into easy, manageable steps. We focus on 'sketching' with spray cans and simple filling techniques. By the end of the session, every child will have created something they are genuinely proud of, regardless of their prior artistic experience. it's all about confidence!

What happens if it rains on the day of our scheduled workshop?

Rain is quite common in Penang, but it won't stop the fun! If we are planning an outdoor session, we always have a 'Plan B'. This could involve moving the workshop to a covered area like a school hall or gym, or using large pop-up marquees. We also offer indoor-friendly options using paint markers or water-based cans that are safe for ventilated indoor use. We'll coordinate with your school staff to ensure the day goes smoothly, rain or shine.

How many students can participate in a single graffiti session?

We are incredibly flexible! Whether you have a small art club of 15 students or an entire year group of 100+, we can make it work. For very large groups, we often rotate classes through different 'stations' or have multiple artists lead separate pods simultaneously. This ensures every child gets individual attention and enough 'spray time' to really learn the techniques. Just let us know your numbers, and we will design a schedule that fits.

How long does a typical workshop last for a primary school group?

Usually, a standard primary school workshop lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a safety briefing, a demonstration of techniques, individual practice, and the final creation of a masterpiece. We can easily adapt the duration to fit into your school’s periods or break times. If you are looking for a full-day 'Art Takeover' event, we can arrange that too—just ask!

The experience

Why choose a street art experience for your primary school? It’s about more than just paint on walls—it’s about building life skills in a way that feels like pure play. Here’s why Penang schools love working with us:

Boosts creative confidence: There are no 'mistakes' in graffiti, only 'happy accidents' that build a child's artistic self-esteem. ✨
Encourages teamwork: Our large-scale murals require students to communicate, share space, and work together on a single vision. 🤝
Physical engagement: It’s a great way to get kids moving! Spraying involves motor skills and physical coordination. 💪
Inclusive for all: Graffiti levels the playing field. Children who struggle in traditional academic settings often shine in our workshops. 🎤
Professional & Reliable: With backup artists always on call, we never cancel. Your school event is safe with us! 🛡️

Step by step

The grand arrival: Our artists arrive at your Penang school early to set up the 'graffiti zone' with boards, plastic sheeting, and all the colourful gear. ✨
Safety first: We kit every student out in protective gear and give a fun, engaging talk about how to use the equipment responsibly.
Artist demo: Watch the pros at work! Our lead artist demonstrates basic strokes, 'fats and thins', and how to create cool effects with the nozzles. 🔥
Sketching the vision: Students start by sketching their ideas on paper or directly onto the surface using light 'ghost' lines to plan their masterpiece.
Can control practice: The kids get their first taste of the spray cans, practicing dots, lines, and simple shapes to get a feel for the pressure. 🎨
The main build: Now the real fun begins! Students fill in their designs, layer colours, and watch their vision come to life in vibrant detail.
Outlining and highlights: We teach the secret to making art 'pop'—adding sharp outlines and those crucial white highlights for a 3D effect. 🏆
The big reveal: We take a group photo with the finished artwork. The sense of pride on the children's faces is always the highlight of the day!
Tidy up: We handle the entire cleanup process, leaving your school grounds exactly as we found them, just a lot more colorful!

Local culture

Penang is world-renowned for its incredible street art scene, pioneered by the famous murals in George Town. By bringing a graffiti workshop to your Penang school, you are connecting your students with the very soul of their city's modern identity. We celebrate this local heritage by encouraging students to think about history and community through their art. 🎭

Fun Fact: Did you know that Penang was one of the first cities in Southeast Asia to officially embrace street art as a way to tell its history? Interactive murals like 'Little Children on a Bicycle' have made the island a global art destination! 🚲

Our workshops respect this local tradition while giving kids the tools to create their own future legends. We operate all over the region, from Bayan Lepas to Butterworth, ensuring every student gets a taste of the island's creative pulse.
