Is the spray paint safe for primary school children?

Absolutely! We supply all necessary protective gear, including high-quality masks, gloves, and overalls. We also use water-based spray paints whenever possible for school sessions, which have lower fumes. Safety is our top priority, and our professional artists provide a comprehensive safety briefing before anyone even touches a spray can. Your kids are in the safest hands in PJ!

How long does a typical school workshop last?

Most of our primary school workshops in Petaling Jaya last between 1.5 to 2.5 hours. This provides the perfect balance: enough time to learn the techniques and complete a masterpiece, but fast-paced enough to keep younger children fully engaged and excited throughout the entire creative process. We can also adapt the timing to fit your specific school timetable.

Where do the graffiti workshops take place?

Usually, we come to you! We can set up temporary wooden walls or large plastic-wrapped surfaces in your school playground, sports hall, or car park. This makes logistics easy for teachers. However, if you'd prefer an off-site experience, we can discuss local outdoor spots or studios in the PJ area that are suitable for large groups.

What is the recommended age for these workshops?

We believe graffiti is for everyone! Our workshops are specifically tailored for children aged 6 to 12. We adjust our teaching methods, using simpler shapes for the younger ones and more intricate layering techniques for the older students. It’s all about building confidence and having a blast, regardless of their starting artistic ability.

Do we need to pay upfront to secure our booking?

The best part about Graffitifun is that you don't pay a penny until the workshop is over! We believe in the quality of our service and want you to be 100% satisfied. You can book your date, we’ll show up and deliver an amazing day for the kids, and you only settle the invoice once the street art fun is complete.

What should the students wear on the day?

We recommend comfortable old clothes and closed-toe shoes (like trainers). Even though we provide protective overalls, graffiti can be a bit messy when kids are getting enthusiastic! Since many workshops in Malaysia happen outdoors, we also suggest bringing some water to stay hydrated and wearing sunscreen if we are working in an open playground area.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your school in PJ? It’s more than just spraying paint; it’s about empowering young minds with a modern medium that speaks their language. Here’s why schools love us:

🔥 Confidence Booster: Seeing a giant piece of art come to life gives kids a massive sense of achievement.
🎨 Alternative Art: We reach the students who might find traditional painting "boring," showing them that art is everywhere.
🤝 Team Building: Many of our PJ workshops focus on collaborative murals, teaching kids how to work together toward a shared goal.
✨ Hassle-Free: We bring everything! You just provide the space, and we handle the materials, the mess, and the magic.
🏆 Expert Mentors: Our artists aren't just talented; they are great with kids and know how to keep the energy high and positive.

Step by step

Consultation & Planning: We start by chatting with your school to understand your goals, whether it's a specific theme, a mural project, or just a fun rewards day.
Artist Arrival & Setup: Our professional graffiti artists arrive at your Petaling Jaya location early to set up boards, protection, and all the colourful spray cans.
Safety Briefing: We gather the kids for a fun, energetic introduction. We cover how to handle the cans safely and respect the environment.
Demo & Tags: An artist demonstrates basic strokes and "tagging" techniques. The children then get to practice their own unique signatures on paper or practice boards.
Sketching the Masterpiece: Working in teams or individually, the students sketch out their main designs, learning about composition and letter structure.
The Main Event – Spraying: This is where the magic happens! Kids put on their masks and gear to fill in their designs with vibrant colours and cool effects.
Final Touches: Our artists help the students add outlines and highlights to make their artwork "pop."
Group Photo & Review: We celebrate the hard work with a group photo in front of the art. It’s a great moment for school newsletters and social media!
Clean-up & Wrap-up: We handle the tidy-up, leaving your school grounds exactly as we found them, except for the amazing new art!

Good to know

Duration: Flexible sessions ranging from 1.5 to 3 hours to suit your school schedule.

Local culture

Petaling Jaya isn't just a satellite city; it's a thriving hub of modern Malaysian culture! From the iconic street food of the night markets to the modern vibes of The Curve, PJ has its own unique rhythm. The local street art scene here has grown massively, with murals popping up in hidden alleys and on giant building faces, reflecting the city's youthful energy.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Petaling Jaya was originally developed as a satellite town for Kuala Lumpur back in the 1950s? Today, it’s a powerhouse of creativity! We take inspiration from the local "PJ vibe"—bold, diverse, and always moving—to inspire the next generation of Malaysian artists.
