Is the graffiti workshop safe for teenagers?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective suits for every participant. Our professional artists are trained to supervise youth groups, ensuring that the spray cans are used responsibly. We also use low-odour, high-quality paints wherever possible to ensure a comfortable environment for everyone involved in the Petaling Jaya workshop.

Do the kids need to bring their own protective gear?

Not at home! We recommend wearing old clothes and sneakers just in case, but we provide full body protection (overalls) to keep your trendy threads clean. Since we operate in the humid PJ climate, we suggest light, breathable clothing underneath the suits so the kids stay cool while they are busy creating their masterpieces.

Where in Petaling Jaya do these workshops take place?

We are super flexible! We can host the youth project at a variety of locations in Petaling Jaya, from community centres to outdoor sports courts. If you don't have a venue, don't worry—we have access to dedicated street art spots where the youth can paint freely on legal walls. Just let us know your preference when you book!

What if some of the participants have never drawn before?

No artistic talent? No problem! Our workshops are designed for all skill levels. Our 'pro' mentors guide the youth through every step, from basic lines to advanced shading. It’s all about the experience, team building, and self-expression. We find that even the 'non-artists' end up creating incredible work by the end of the session.

How long does a typical youth session last?

Our youth project workshops typically last between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives the group enough time to learn the history of street art, practice their techniques on plastic film or practice walls, and then complete a final large-scale piece. We can also tailor the duration to fit into a specific school or community event schedule.

What materials are included in the workshop package?

We handle everything from start to finish. We bring all the spray cans in a rainbow of colours, caps (nozzles), gloves, masks, and protective clothing. We also provide the 'canvas'—whether that’s a temporary wall, wooden panels, or a designated legal graffiti space. You just need to bring the energy and the crew!

Do the participants get to keep what they create?

A standard youth project usually results in a collaborative mural that the whole group works on together. This teaches teamwork and communication. However, if you’d prefer individual canvases for the participants to take home, we can definitely arrange that too! Just mention it in your request so we can prepare the right supplies.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next youth project in Petaling Jaya? It’s simple: it’s the ultimate way to connect with the next generation on their own terms. Street art is a language they already speak! 🎤

Boosts Confidence: Seeing a massive piece of art go from a small sketch to a huge wall gives kids an incredible sense of achievement. 💪
Promotes Teamwork: You can't paint a mural alone! Our projects require communication, coordination, and a shared vision. 🤝
Safe & Legal: We teach the difference between vandalism and art, providing a legal outlet for their creative energy. 🛡️
Zero Stress Booking: We have backup artists ready to go, so your event in PJ stays on track no matter what. 🏆
No Upfront Payments: Stay relaxed with our "pay after the workshop" policy—we focus on the fun first! ✨
Skill Building: Beyond painting, youth learn about design, colour theory, and spatial planning. 🎨

Step by step

Intro & Street Art Lore: We kick things off with a high-energy intro about the history of graffiti and its evolution into modern street art.
Safety First: Everyone gets geared up in professional masks, gloves, and protective suits to stay safe and clean.
Can Control 101: Our artists teach the group how to hold the can, swap nozzles (caps), and manage pressure for different effects.
Sketching the Vision: The group brainstorms a theme and sketches out their tag or mural design on paper first.
Practice Makes Perfect: Participants practice their first lines and shapes on a test surface to get a feel for the spray flow.
The Big Fill: We move to the main project wall where the kids start filling in the large shapes of the masterpiece.
Detailing & Outlining: This is where the magic happens! We add shadows, highlights, and those sharp outlines that make the art pop.
The Crew Photo: We celebrate the finished work with a group photoshoot in front of the new Petaling Jaya mural.
Clean Up & Chill: We wrap up the session, pack away the gear, and leave the site spotless.

Local culture

Petaling Jaya, or "PJ" as we locals call it, has evolved from a satellite town into a vibrant creative hub. From the hidden gems in SS2 to the bustling energy around Sunway, street art is starting to breathe new life into the city's concrete corners. Our workshops tap into this local Malaysian "gotong-royong" spirit, encouraging youth to work together to beautify their local neighbourhoods. We love incorporating local slang and Malaysian cultural motifs into our designs to make the art feel truly "Budak PJ."

Fun Fact: Did you know that Petaling Jaya was originally developed as a satellite township for Kuala Lumpur in the 1950s? Today, it's a street art destination in its own right, with several "art lanes" dedicated to legal murals that celebrate Malaysian heritage! 🇲🇾✨
