Do the young people need any previous art experience?

Absolutely! No prior painting or drawing experience is required for our youth projects. Our professional artists are experts at breaking down complex mural techniques into simple, manageable steps. We focus on building confidence and allowing young people to express themselves freely. By the end of the session, everyone will have contributed to a piece of art they can be truly proud of, regardless of their starting skill level.

Is the spray paint safe and what protective gear is provided?

Safety is our absolute priority. We provide high-quality FFP2 or FFP3 respiratory masks, protective gloves, and disposable overalls to keep everyone safe and clean. We use professional-grade spray paint and conduct our workshops in well-ventilated outdoor areas or legal graffiti zones. Our artists are trained in safety protocols and provide a comprehensive safety briefing before any spray cans are touched, ensuring a secure environment for all participants.

What should participants wear to the graffiti workshop?

While we provide protective overalls, we always recommend that participants wear 'messy' clothes and comfortable, closed-toe shoes. Spray paint is permanent and can occasionally get on shoes or sleeves despite the gear. Since our Barcelona workshops are often held outdoors to take advantage of the Mediterranean sunshine, it is also a good idea to bring a hat and some sunscreen during the summer months.

Where in Barcelona do these youth workshops take place?

We are incredibly flexible with locations! We can host workshops at various legal graffiti walls across Barcelona, such as the famous Poblenou 'Art Zones'. Alternatively, if you have a suitable space at your youth club, community centre, or school courtyard (and permission to paint there), we can bring the mobile workshop to you. We just need a well-ventilated area with enough space for the group to work safely.

How long does a typical youth project session last?

Our standard youth project workshops typically last between 2 and 3 hours. This allows enough time for a proper introduction, safety briefing, technique practice, and the creation of a large-scale collective mural. For more intensive projects or community art programmes, we can also arrange half-day or multi-day sessions. We tailor the duration to fit your specific schedule and the goals you want the young people to achieve.

How does the payment process work?

We believe in the quality of our service, which is why we don't require upfront payments. You only pay after the workshop is completed and you are 100% satisfied with the experience. This takes the risk away from organisers and youth leaders. After the event, we will send an invoice that can be paid via bank transfer. It’s all about building trust and ensuring the youth group has an amazing time.

Is there a minimum or maximum group size?

We can accommodate groups of almost any size. For youth projects, we usually recommend a minimum of 10 participants to ensure a great atmosphere, but we can go up to very large groups by bringing in additional professional artists. We maintain a healthy artist-to-youth ratio to ensure everyone gets individual attention and guidance. If you have a particularly large group in Barcelona, just let us know and we will scale the team accordingly.

The experience

Why choose a Graffitifun workshop for your youth group in Barcelona? It’s more than just painting; it’s an empowering experience that teaches valuable life skills through a medium that young people actually care about.

Boosts self-esteem: Seeing a massive mural completed by their own hands gives young people a huge sense of accomplishment.
Teamwork in action: Our collective mural projects require communication, compromise, and shared goals.
Authentic experience: Learn from real professional artists who are active in the Barcelona street art scene.
Stress-free booking: No upfront payment and a guaranteed artist backup system mean zero risk for organisers.
Safe expression: We provide a pro-social outlet for creativity in a controlled, safe environment.

Step by step

Introduction & inspiration: We start with a brief history of Barcelona's street art scene to get the creative juices flowing.
Safety first: Every participant gets kitted out with professional masks, gloves, and overalls while we explain the safety rules.
The basics: Our artists demonstrate essential techniques, from 'fat cap' filling to 'skinny cap' detailing and fading.
Sketching the vision: The group works together to brainstorm a theme and sketch out the rough design on the wall or boards.
First lines: It’s time to pick up the cans! Under guidance, the youth start applying the base layers of their collective artwork.
Adding character: Participants learn how to add shadows, highlights, and outlines to make their graffiti 'pop'.
The 'Masterpiece' finish: We spend the final hour refining the details and cleaning up the edges for a professional look.
Photo finish: We celebrate the achievement with group photos in front of the completed mural – a perfect memory of the day.

Local culture

Barcelona is a global mecca for street art, famously home to some of the most iconic "muros libres" (free walls) in Europe. From the pioneering days of El Xupet Negre to the contemporary masterpieces decorating the Poble Sec and Poblenou neighbourhoods, the city lives and breathes creativity. Our youth projects tap into this local heritage, often taking place in the very spots where international legends have left their mark.

By engaging with Barcelona's graffiti culture, young people aren't just painting; they are participating in a living history. We encourage them to look at the textures of the city's walls and the vibrant colours of the Mediterranean for inspiration, connecting their modern identity with the rich artistic tradition of the Catalan capital.

Pricing

Our youth projects are priced competitively to ensure street art is accessible to the local community:

Price range: €25 - €50 per person
No surprises: Everything from paint to protection is included in the price.
Payment: No deposit required. Pay by invoice after the workshop.

Prices vary based on group size, duration, and chosen location in Barcelona.
