Is the graffiti workshop safe for teenagers?

Absolutely! At Graffitifun, safety is our number one priority. We provide all necessary protective gear, including high-quality masks, gloves, and overalls to keep clothes clean. Our professional artists are expert facilitators who supervise every step of the process. We use high-quality spray paint and ensure our youth project sessions in Lisbon are held in well-ventilated outdoor areas or legal street art zones. No prior experience is needed, and we guide everyone through the safe handling of the cans.

How long does a typical youth workshop last?

Usually, our youth projects in Lisbon last between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives the group plenty of time to learn the basics, practice their 'tagging' and 'piece' techniques, and collaborate on a large-scale mural. We can adjust the duration to fit your specific schedule, whether it’s a quick energiser session or a deep-dive creative day. We always ensure there is a perfect balance between learning and hands-on spray time.

What is the minimum and maximum group size?

We are incredibly flexible! Whether you have a small youth group of 10 people or a massive community initiative with over 100 participants, we can handle it. For larger groups, we bring in extra professional artists and 'backup artists' to ensure every participant gets individual attention and guidance. In Lisbon, we’ve successfully managed large-scale events at schools and community centres, ensuring high energy and engagement for every single person involved.

Do we need to provide the location in Lisbon?

We can come to you! If you have a suitable outdoor space or a well-ventilated indoor area with permission in Lisbon, we can set up our mobile workshop there. Alternatively, we can arrange for the workshop to take place at one of Lisbon's iconic legal graffiti spots. This gives the youth a truly authentic experience in the heart of the city’s thriving street art scene. We’ll discuss the best location options with you during the booking process.

Do the kids need any prior art skills?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for complete beginners as well as those who might have a bit of artistic flair. We start with the absolute basics—how to hold the can, how to control pressure, and how to create clean lines. Our Lisbon artists are great at breaking down complex styles into simple steps. By the end of the session, even those who thought they couldn't draw a stick figure will be amazed at the mural they’ve helped create.

What materials are included in the workshop?

We provide everything you need for a legendary day. This includes all premium spray paint in a huge range of colours, protective masks, gloves, and protective suits. We also bring the canvases or mobile graffiti walls if we aren't painting directly on a legal wall. All you need to bring is some old shoes (just in case!) and plenty of creative energy. We handle the setup and the cleanup, making it totally stress-free for the organisers.

How does the payment process work for community groups?

We understand that youth projects often work with specific budgets, which is why we offer a 'pay after the workshop' policy. You don't need to pay anything upfront to secure your date. Once the workshop is finished and everyone is happy with the result, we handle the administrative side. This makes it much easier for schools, charities, and community groups in Lisbon to book with us without the stress of immediate financial outlay.

The experience

Why choose a Graffitifun workshop for your Lisbon youth project? Because we combine professional art skills with a passion for community building. Here’s why we’re a hit with youth groups:

Boost Confidence: There’s nothing like seeing your name or art 3 metres high on a wall to make you feel like a boss! 💪
Teamwork in Action: Our murals require collaboration, communication, and a shared vision to complete. 🤝
Skill Building: From hand-eye coordination to creative planning, we teach transferable skills in a fun environment. 🎨
Safe Expression: We provide a legal, structured outlet for urban expression that avoids the risks of illegal graffiti. 🛡️
Lisbon Pride: Connect young people with their city’s famous street art heritage in a meaningful way. 🇵🇹
Stress-Free Booking: No upfront payment and backup artists mean your event is guaranteed to happen. 🏆

Step by step

Introduction & Safety: We kick things off with a high-energy intro, meeting your professional artist and getting fitted with masks and gloves.
Concept Brainstorming: The group works together to choose a theme or a 'word' that represents their community or youth project goals.
The Basics: We head to the practice wall to learn 'can control'—from making thin 'noodles' to wide flares and smooth fills.
Sketching the Outline: Our artist helps the youth translate their ideas into a large-scale sketch on the workshop wall.
Colour Theory & Filling: Everyone grabs a can! We start adding vibrant colours, learning how to blend shades and create 3D effects.
The Outline & Detail: This is where the magic happens. We add the sharp 'power-lines' and crisp edges that make the graffiti pop.
Highlights & Bits: We add the finishing touches—shine, sparkles, and 'bits' (small decorative elements) to give it that pro look.
The Big Reveal & Photos: We step back to admire the collective masterpiece and take group photos for social media or project reports.
Cleanup & Wrap-up: We pack up the gear, leaving the site tidy, while the participants head home with a massive sense of achievement!

Local culture

Lisbon is a living gallery, from the legendary walls of the Bairro Alto to the massive murals in Marvila. Our workshops tap into this vibrant local culture, giving young people a chance to contribute to the city's artistic soul. We often work near iconic spots like the LX Factory or legal zones that have defined Lisbon's street art reputation. Our local artists aren't just teachers; they are part of the Lisbon scene, bringing real-world stories and authentic techniques to every session.

🎨 Fun Fact: Lisbon was one of the first cities in the world to create a 'Gallery of Urban Art' (GAU), a government-backed initiative to promote legal street art!
