Step by step

  1. Introduction & Safety: We start with a warm welcome and a breakdown of the safety rules, including how to properly wear your protective mask and gear.
  2. Artist Demonstration: Watch a pro artist show you the basic 'can control' techniques, from making thin lines to filling in large areas.
  3. Sketching Your Design: Grab a marker or piece of chalk and map out your masterpiece on your assigned space, getting the proportions just right.
  4. First Outlines: Time to pick up the can! You will trace your sketch with a primary colour to set the foundation of your street art piece.
  5. Filling & Fading: Learn how to blend colours and create smooth gradients to give your work depth and a professional 'pop'.
  6. Adding Highlights: Use bright whites or contrasting colours to add light reflections and make your artwork stand out from the background.
  7. Final Outlining: Sharpen up those edges with a steady hand to give your graffiti that crisp, iconic look.
  8. The Big Reveal: We step back as a group to admire the finished gallery and take plenty of photos of your awesome creations.

Our Bukavu holiday workshops are designed to be hassle-free for parents and exhilarating for participants. Sessions generally run for 2 hours, which is plenty of time to learn the basics and finish a piece. We keep group sizes small to ensure everyone gets personal attention from our artists. All equipment—including professional-grade spray cans, caps, and full protective gear (masks, gloves, overalls)—is provided by us. Safety is our top priority, and we only work in locations with excellent ventilation. We also have a backup artist system in place, so your scheduled fun is never interrupted!

Local culture

Street art in Bukavu

Bukavu is a city of incredible resilience and vibrant culture, perched beautifully on the shores of Lake Kivu. As the city continues to grow as a hub for education and trade in eastern DR Congo, the desire for modern, expressive art forms is skyrocketing. Our workshops draw inspiration from the lush green hills of South Kivu and the bustling energy of the local markets. We aim to contribute to Bukavu's budding creative scene by giving the youth a platform to express their voices through street art. From the panoramas near the Cathedral to the busy streets of Ibanda, the spirit of creativity is everywhere, and our graffiti sessions are the perfect way to tap into that local 'Bukavu vibe' while learning a global art form.
