Step by step

  1. Introduction and safety: We start with a warm welcome and a briefing on how to use the equipment safely, including fitting your masks and gloves.
  2. The history of street art: A quick, breezy chat about how graffiti evolved from underground tagging to the world-renowned public art you see today.
  3. Can control basics: You'll learn how to hold the spray can, how to control the pressure, and how to create thin and thick lines.
  4. Sketching your ideas: We move to the wall (or board) to sketch out the basic shapes of your design using light colours.
  5. Filling in: Now the fun part! You'll learn techniques for smooth filling and vibrant colour gradients to make your art pop.
  6. Outlining and details: Master the 'power line'. We'll show you how to add sharp outlines and highlights that bring the whole piece to life.
  7. Collaborative mural: Work together with your group to combine your individual styles into one massive, cohesive public art piece.
  8. Final touches and photos: We polish the artwork together and take some epic group photos with your creation before cleaning up.

Local culture

Street art in Bukavu

Bukavu is a city of incredible resilience and natural beauty, and its art scene is reflecting that energy more and more every day. From the bustling streets near Kadutu to the calmer vibes of La Botte, the city provides a dramatic backdrop for creative expression. Our workshops take inspiration from the lush green hills of South Kivu and the rhythmic life of the lake. We aim to contribute to Bukavu’s growing reputation as a cultural hub in eastern DR Congo, following in the footsteps of artistic movements in Kinshasa and Lubumbashi. By participating in a graffiti workshop here, you're not just learning a skill; you're joining a movement that celebrates Bukavu’s unique identity through the modern lens of public street art.

Pricing

We believe that public art should be accessible to everyone in South Kivu. Our pricing is flexible based on your group size and the specific requirements of your event. For a standard workshop experience in Bukavu, prices typically range between FC50,000 and FC120,000 per person. This includes all materials, gear, and professional instruction. We don't require any upfront deposits—you only pay once the workshop is finished and you're happy with the results!
