Step by step

  1. Warm-up & safety briefing: We kick things off with a quick chat about safety, gear, and how to respect the urban environment. 🛡️
  2. Introduction to tools: Kids learn about different 'caps' (nozzles) and how they change the spray pattern from thin lines to fat fills.
  3. The 'Tag' session: Every artist needs a name! We help the kids design their own unique graffiti tag on paper first. ✍️
  4. Can control practice: Time to pick up the cans! We practice basic lines, dots, and fades on a practice wall to get the feel of the pressure.
  5. Sketching the masterpiece: We move onto the main event—sketching out a larger piece or character on their individual canvases.
  6. Filling & shading: This is where the magic happens! We teach them how to layer colours and add shadows for that 3D pop. 🌈
  7. Outlining & highlights: The final touch to make the artwork 'pop'—adding sharp outlines and those all-important white highlights.
  8. Photo op & wrap-up: We finish with a group photo of the new Trujillo street art crew and their incredible creations! 📸

Local culture

Street art in Trujillo

Trujillo isn't just about the incredible ruins of Chan Chan or the colonial charm of the Plaza de Armas; it's a city with a growing pulse of modern urban expression. From the colourful walls in Huanchaco to the emerging mural scenes in the city centre, the local 'Trujillanos' appreciate art that breathes life into the streets. Our workshops tap into this local energy, teaching kids that art isn't just something you see in a museum—it's something you live and breathe.

Fun Fact: Did you know Trujillo is the birthplace of the Marinera dance? Just like the dance, graffiti is all about rhythm, flow, and expressing your unique personality through movement! 💃✨

By bringing our workshops to Trujillo, we aim to inspire the next generation of Peruvian artists, giving them the tools to express themselves in a city that has been a cradle of culture for centuries.
