Do I need previous graffiti experience to take this training?

You don't need to be a professional artist to join! Our training is designed for educators of all artistic levels. Whether you are a stick-figure sketcher or a seasoned painter, we teach you the technical mechanics of spray painting and how to translate those skills into a classroom setting. The focus is on the pedagogy of street art and how to manage a group safely while encouraging creative expression.

Is spray painting safe for a school environment?

Safety is our absolute priority, especially in a school environment. We provide a full health and safety briefing covering the correct use of masks, gloves, and ventilation. We also teach you how to set up a 'safe zone' for students, how to manage paint storage, and how to ensure the workshop remains a structured, low-risk activity. You'll leave feeling confident in managing these 'edgy' tools responsibly.

Can we run these workshops indoors if it's too hot or raining?

Absolutely! While Trujillo's sunny climate is perfect for outdoor murals, we have techniques for indoor sessions using water-based, low-odour sprays or portable boards. We provide protective floor and wall coverings to ensure the school property stays clean. During the training, we'll show you exactly how to prep any space—indoor or outdoor—to keep the focus on the art and not on the cleanup.

How long does the teacher training session last?

The standard training for individual teachers or small groups usually lasts between 2 and 4 hours. However, for larger faculty professional development days, we can extend this into a full-day immersive experience. This allows more time for 'freestyle' practice and deeper dives into curriculum integration. We are flexible and can work around your school's timetable or term breaks to ensure maximum participation.

What materials are included in the professional development package?

Everything is included! We provide professional-grade spray cans in a wide range of colours, high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, protective overalls, and the surfaces to paint on. We also provide educational handouts and digital resources you can use later. You just need to show up in comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little bit of dust on—we handle all the logistical heavy lifting for you.

How can I link graffiti art to the standard school curriculum?

Graffiti is a fantastic tool for teaching teamwork, art history, social justice, and urban geography. During the session, we brainstorm how to link spray art to your specific curriculum goals. Whether it's exploring 'El Brujo' themes through modern stencils or teaching colour theory through 3D lettering, we help you create a lesson plan that makes your subject come alive for your students.

How do I book a training session and what are the costs?

Booking is simple! Since every school and group of teachers is different, our pricing depends on the number of participants and the specific setup you need in Trujillo. Just click the 'Request a Quote' button or contact us directly. We’ll provide a transparent, instant estimate with no obligation. Best of all, we don't require upfront payments—you pay after the workshop is successfully completed.

Local culture

Trujillo, known as the 'City of Everlasting Spring', is a place where history and modern creativity collide. While the city is famous for its colonial architecture and the ancient adobe city of Chan Chan, there is a burgeoning street art scene that is beginning to colour the urban landscape. By bringing art teacher training to Trujillo, we are helping local educators connect their students with this modern visual language. 🏛️

Fun Fact: Did you know that Trujillo's mural scene is often inspired by Moche iconography? Many local artists blend ancient pre-Columbian symbols with modern graffiti styles, creating a unique 'Neo-Andean' aesthetic that you can learn to bring into your classroom!

Whether your school is in Victor Larco Herrera or closer to the bustling markets of the centre, we adapt our training to reflect the local culture. It’s about more than just paint; it’s about giving Trujillo’s next generation a voice through the most exciting medium on the planet. 🌟
