Is the graffiti workshop safe for secondary school students?

Our workshops in Katowice are perfectly suited for secondary school students. We use high-quality spray paint and provide all necessary safety equipment, including gloves and masks. Our professional artists oversee the entire session, ensuring that every student follows safety protocols while having an absolute blast. We've hosted hundreds of school groups across Poland, making safety and engagement our top priorities for every single session we run.

Do students need to have any prior drawing or painting skills?

Absolutely! No prior artistic experience is needed at all. Our Katowice-based artists are experts at breaking down complex street art techniques into simple, manageable steps. Whether a student is a natural-born illustrator or has never held a spray can before, they will leave the workshop with a piece of art they are proud of and a new-found confidence in their creative abilities.

What should students wear to the workshop in Katowice?

We recommend wearing old clothes and comfortable shoes that you don't mind getting a little bit of paint on. While we provide protective gear like gloves and overalls/aprons where possible, spray paint is permanent and has a way of finding its way onto sleeves or trainers! It’s all part of the authentic 'street artist' experience, so definitely leave the brand-new white trainers at home for this one.

How long does a typical workshop session last?

A standard secondary school workshop in Katowice typically lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This duration is perfectly balanced to keep students engaged without them becoming fatigued. We spend the first part of the session on history and technique, followed by intensive hands-on spraying time. We find this timeframe allows everyone to complete a high-quality piece of art while maintaining a high energy level throughout.

Where do the workshops take place, and can we keep the art?

We are very flexible! We can host the workshop at a dedicated street art location in Katowice, or if your school has a suitable outdoor area with proper ventilation, we can often come to you. Depending on your preference, students can work on large collective plastic-wrapped walls (great for teamwork) or individual canvases that they can take home or display in the school corridors as a permanent memory.

What is the price of a graffiti workshop for schools?

The cost for a secondary school workshop in Katowice generally ranges from 100 zł to 220 zł per student. This variation depends on the total number of participants, the duration of the session, and the materials chosen (like individual canvases). We offer competitive school rates and don't require any payment upfront. For a precise estimate tailored to your specific group size, just request a custom quote!

What happens if it rains on the day of our Katowice workshop?

Rain doesn't have to stop the fun! We always monitor the weather in Katowice closely. If the forecast looks poor, we can often arrange an indoor location using water-based, low-odour spray paints that are safe for indoor use, or we can look at rescheduling to a better date. We also have a team of backup artists available to ensure your event goes ahead even if there are last-minute logistical changes.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your students in Katowice? Beyond the obvious fun, it’s a powerful tool for engagement and personal growth. Here is why our workshops are a hit with teachers and students alike:

Boosts confidence: Seeing a large-scale piece come to life gives students a massive sense of accomplishment. 💪
Encourages teamwork: Our collaborative murals require students to communicate and coordinate like a real street art crew.
Stress relief: The physical and rhythmic nature of spray painting is a fantastic outlet for teenage energy. 🎤
Cultural Connection: Connect with Katowice’s modern urban identity and the global street art movement.
Professional Guidance: Learn from real artists who are passionate about sharing their craft and mentoring young talent. 🏆
Safe environment: We provide a controlled, legal, and safe space for students to experiment with an often-misunderstood art form.

Step by step

Intro and history: We kick things off with a brief look at the roots of graffiti culture and how it evolved into the global street art movement we see in Katowice today.
Safety first: Every student gets kitted out with gloves and masks. We explain the 'do's and don'ts' of spray can handling to keep everyone safe and clean.
Mastering the can: Before hitting the final project, students practice 'can control'—learning how to make thin lines, thick fades, and clean dots.
Sketching the vision: Our artists help students sketch out their designs, focusing on bold letters and character concepts that work well with spray paint.
The first layer: Time to start spraying! We begin with the 'fill-ins,' teaching students how to layer colours smoothly and create eye-popping gradients.
Outline and detail: This is where the magic happens. Students learn to add sharp outlines and highlights that make their graffiti 'pop' off the surface.
Group collaboration: Many sessions include a collaborative mural element where the whole class works together to create a massive, unified piece of art.
Final touches and photos: After adding those last-minute details, we wrap up with a group photo session so everyone has a digital memory of their masterpiece.
Clean-up and debrief: We finish by tidying up the gear and reflecting on the creative journey, leaving everyone with a massive sense of achievement.

Local culture

Katowice is a city that has truly embraced the urban art movement. From the stunning murals in the Mariacka area to the creative energy of the Culture Zone, street art is woven into the city's modern identity. Historically known for its coal and steel, Katowice has reinvented itself through design and music, making it a fantastic place for students to explore their own creative transformations.

Fun Fact: Did you know Katowice hosts the annual Street Art Festival? The city is home to massive murals by world-renowned artists, some standing several storeys high, turning the Silesian capital into a giant open-air gallery! 🏙️

Our workshops tap into this local spirit, encouraging students to see their city not just as a place of work and study, but as a canvas for expression. We might even pass some local landmarks on the way to our favourite painting spots!
