Is the workshop safe for people with respiratory sensitivities?

Absolutely! We take safety very seriously. We provide high-quality FFP3 respiratory masks, nitrile gloves, and full-body protective suits for every participant. Our Bristol artists are trained to supervise the use of spray cans closely, ensuring that everyone stays safe while having a blast. If someone is sensitive to smells, we can also explore using water-based paint markers or working in highly ventilated outdoor areas.

Do we have to travel to a specific studio in Bristol?

We are incredibly flexible with locations in Bristol. We can host the session at one of the city's legal street art hotspots, or we can bring the entire setup to your facility, school, or community centre. If we come to you, we use heavy-duty floor coverings and temporary wooden "walls" to ensure your venue stays exactly as we found it—minus the new artwork you've created!

Do participants need to have artistic skills?

Not at all. Our special needs programs are designed to be "process-oriented" rather than "result-oriented." Our artists help by pre-sketching outlines or using stencils if needed, so everyone walks away feeling like a pro. Whether a participant creates a complex mural or enjoys the tactile sensation of spraying colours, the experience is considered a total success. It is all about the joy of creating.

How long does a typical session last?

A standard inclusive workshop usually lasts between 90 minutes and 2 hours. We find this is the "sweet spot" for maintaining engagement without causing overstimulation or fatigue. However, if your group requires a slower pace with more frequent sensory breaks, we can easily extend the session or break it into smaller segments to suit the specific needs of your attendees.

What are the costs involved for a Bristol workshop?

Our pricing is flexible to accommodate different group dynamics and support ratios. Generally, prices range from £25 to £55 per person. This covers all materials, artist fees, travel within Bristol, and protective gear. Because special needs groups often require specific setups or extra instructors, we recommend requesting a custom quote so we can provide the best possible value for your specific requirements.

Can we create a group mural together?

Yes, we believe in the power of shared creativity! While we often work on individual boards that participants can take home, we also love creating large-scale collaborative murals. This is a fantastic way for a group to practice communication and teamwork, resulting in a vibrant piece of art that can be proudly displayed in a community centre or school hallway in Bristol.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your special needs group in Bristol? Aside from the sheer joy of spraying paint, there are incredible therapeutic and social benefits to this unique art form:

Sensory Engagement: The weight of the can, the sound of the spray, and the visual impact of bright colours provide a rich multi-sensory experience.
Motor Skill Development: Handling spray cans helps with fine motor coordination and arm physical therapy in an engaging way.
Confidence Building: Seeing an immediate, large-scale result on a wall or board gives participants a massive boost in self-esteem.
Safe Expression: For those who find verbal communication challenging, graffiti offers a powerful non-verbal outlet for emotions and ideas.
Social Inclusion: Our workshops encourage teamwork and shared pride, helping to reduce social isolation in the Bristol community.
Professional Guidance: Our artists are not just talented painters; they are patient, adaptable mentors who know how to connect with everyone.

Sketching and design: We help participants translate their ideas onto the surface, using stencils or light pencil outlines to provide a helpful guide.
The painting process: Under expert guidance, everyone starts spraying! We provide physical assistance or emotional encouragement wherever it is needed.

Local culture

Bristol isn't just a city; it is a living, breathing canvas. As the birthplace of Banksy and home to the world-renowned Upfest, street art is woven into the very fabric of life here. We might reference the famous murals in Nelson Street or the ever-changing walls of the M32 underpass to get the creative juices flowing.
