Is the spray paint safe for everyone to use?

Absolutely! We use high-quality spray paint, but we also prioritise health. For our special needs programs in Darwin, we provide all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), including masks and gloves. If a participant is sensitive to smells, we can arrange for low-odour paint options or focus the workshop in well-ventilated outdoor areas under the Top End sun. Safety and comfort are our top priorities.

Where do the Darwin workshops take place?

Our workshops are designed to be mobile and inclusive. We can host the session at your specific facility in Darwin, a local community centre, or one of our partner outdoor street art spots. We ensure every location is fully wheelchair accessible and has the necessary amenities to keep everyone comfortable throughout the creative process. Just let us know your requirements, and we'll find the perfect spot.

Do participants need to have prior art skills?

No artistic experience is needed at all! Our professional street artists are experts at breaking down the process into simple, fun steps. We focus on 'process over perfection,' encouraging everyone to enjoy the physical sensation of painting and the joy of colour. Whether it's their first time holding a can or they are a budding Picasso, everyone will leave with something they are proud of.

What should participants wear to the workshop?

We recommend wearing 'old' clothes that you don't mind getting a bit of paint on. While we provide protective ponchos and gloves, graffiti can sometimes be a bit messy when the creativity starts flowing! Closed-toe shoes are also a must for safety. We want everyone to feel relaxed and ready to get stuck into the art without worrying about their best gear getting dirty.

How long does a session usually last?

A typical special needs workshop in Darwin lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours. This timeframe is usually perfect for maintaining engagement and energy without causing fatigue. However, we are completely flexible! If your group needs a shorter session or a longer break in the middle to stay comfortable, we can easily customise the schedule to suit the specific pace of your participants.

What makes your special needs program different?

We pride ourselves on our 'Triple-A' guarantee: Accessible, Adaptable, and Awesome. Unlike standard art classes, we use specialized teaching techniques tailored to different learning abilities. We use a high instructor-to-participant ratio to ensure everyone gets the attention they deserve. Plus, our Darwin team members are specifically trained to foster a supportive, low-pressure environment where every individual can express themselves freely through street art.

Local culture

Darwin is a city known for its incredible resilience, vibrant multiculturalism, and stunning natural beauty—all of which provide the perfect backdrop for urban art. From the iconic street art murals that decorate the CBD's laneways during the Darwin Street Art Festival to the community-driven projects in suburbs like Casuarina and Palmerston, the 'Top End' is a canvas waiting to be filled. Our workshops tap into this local spirit, encouraging participants to draw inspiration from the bright tropical sunsets and the rich history of the Northern Territory. 🐊☀️

Fun Fact: Did you know Darwin is actually closer to Jakarta than it is to Bondi Beach? This unique location makes our city a melting pot of artistic influences, which we love to share with our workshop participants!
