Do I need prior graffiti experience to join the training?

Absolutely not! Our teacher training in Bruges is designed for all skill levels. Whether you are a seasoned painter or haven't touched a spray can since primary school, our professional artists will guide you through the basics. We focus on teaching you the methodology and safety protocols first, ensuring you feel confident enough to demonstrate the techniques to your own students regardless of your personal artistic background.

What specific skills will I learn during the session?

The professional development workshop covers everything from history and culture to hands-on technique. We dive deep into 'can control', nozzle types (caps), and safety management. More importantly, we focus on pedagogical strategies: how to manage a classroom in an outdoor setting, how to encourage reluctant students, and how to structure a 2-hour lesson plan that results in a finished piece of art every student can be proud of.

Is the workshop safe and what protective gear is provided?

Safety is our number one priority, especially in a school setting. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective overalls. During the session, we will teach you how to set up a safe 'spraying zone', geographical considerations for ventilation, and how to handle aerosol cans responsibly. You’ll leave with a clear safety checklist that you can implement immediately in your own educational environment.

How does the 'pay after the workshop' system work?

We understand that school budgets and schedules can be tight. That’s why we offer a 'no upfront payment' policy. You can book your training date in Bruges now to secure your spot, and payment is only required after the workshop has been completed. This ensures you are 100% satisfied with the professional development you received before any funds leave your department's account.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes, we do! Upon successful completion of the Graffitifun Teacher Training, you will receive a certificate of participation. This document outlines the hours completed and the specific skills mastered, which can often be used as evidence for your professional development portfolio or toward your annual CPD (Continuing Professional Development) requirements in the Belgian education system.

Can the training take place at my school or a local venue?

We are extremely flexible. We can host the training at one of our dedicated street art locations in or around Bruges, or our team can come directly to your school premises. If we come to you, we’ll just need an outdoor space with adequate ventilation (like a playground or car park) and we will take care of all the protective floor and wall coverings.

What is the ideal group size for a teacher training session?

While we recommend a minimum of 5-8 teachers to make the session interactive and cost-effective, we can cater to both small departmental groups and entire school faculties. If you have a very large group, we simply send additional professional artists to ensure every teacher gets enough hands-on time with the spray cans and individual feedback on their technique.

Local culture

Bruges might be world-famous for its medieval belfry and winding canals, but there's a modern pulse beating beneath the cobblestones. The city has a growing appreciation for urban art, moving beyond the museum walls of the Groeningemuseum into the streets. We take inspiration from local initiatives that have seen grey walls transformed into colourful narratives, proving that even a city as historic as Bruges has room for contemporary expression.

By training to become a graffiti educator here, you are joining a local movement that respects the heritage of the 'Venice of the North' while embracing the future. We often discuss the fine line between 'street art' and 'heritage preservation' during our sessions, giving you the context needed to navigate these conversations with your students and the local Bruges community.
