Do I need previous graffiti experience to join the training?

Absolutely not! Our Jurmala training is designed for educators of all artistic levels. Whether you are a fine arts specialist or a primary teacher who hasn't picked up a brush in years, our professional artists will guide you through the basics. We focus on the 'can-do' attitude, starting with simple tag structures and moving into spray techniques that anyone can master with just a little practice.

What safety measures are in place during the workshop?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective overalls for every participant. Our instructors are trained in site safety and use low-odour, professional-grade spray paints where possible. During the session, we’ll also teach you how to set up a safe 'spray zone' in your own school environment, ensuring you can replicate the lesson safely with your own students.

Are all materials included in the price?

We provide everything you need to become a street art pro! This includes a wide array of premium spray cans in various colours, different 'caps' (nozzles) for various line widths, protective gear, and practice surfaces. We also provide educational handouts and curriculum guides that you can take back to your classroom. All you need to bring is your enthusiasm and some comfortable shoes you don't mind getting a bit of dust on.

How long does a teacher training session usually last?

Our professional development sessions in Jurmala typically last between 2 to 3 hours. This allows enough time for a bit of theory and history, a demonstration of techniques, and plenty of 'hands-on' practice time. We can also customise the duration if you have a specific schedule to meet, such as a half-day inset or a full-day intensive creative retreat.

Can you hold the training directly at our school?

We are very flexible! We can host the training at one of our vibrant outdoor partner locations in Jurmala, or we can bring the entire workshop directly to your school or community centre. If we come to you, we just need a well-ventilated outdoor space or a large indoor area with proper extraction. Our team handles all the setup and cleanup, leaving your site spotless.

How can I apply these skills in my classroom?

Once you've completed the training, you'll be equipped to lead your own graffiti modules. We provide you with a structured lesson plan that covers history, sketching, and execution. Many teachers in the Riga and Jurmala areas find that these skills are perfect for art clubs, end-of-term projects, or even community mural events. We also offer ongoing support if you have questions while planning your first student session.

Do I have to pay in advance?

At Graffitifun, we believe in stress-free booking. You don't need to pay anything upfront! You can secure your date and finalize the details with our team. Payment is only required after the workshop has been successfully completed. We want you to be 100% satisfied with the experience before any money changes hands. It’s all part of our commitment to making high-quality art education accessible and fun.

Step by step

Introduction & history: We kick off by exploring the roots of graffiti culture and how it evolved from underground tagging to a global contemporary art movement.
Material mastery: You'll get to know your tools, from different spray can pressures to the 'caps' that create thin outlines or fat fills.
Safety briefing: We cover the essential 'dos and don'ts' of using spray paint, including proper mask fitting and environmental considerations.
The first lines: You'll start on a practice surface, learning 'can control'—how to manage distance and speed to create clean, crisp lines.
Letter structure & style: Our artists guide you through building letterforms, shadows, and 3D effects that make a piece pop.
Colour blending: Discover the secrets of fades and gradients, learning how to mix vibrant colours directly on the wall.
Classroom integration: A dedicated session on how to translate these skills into a curriculum-friendly lesson plan for various age groups.
The final masterpiece: Put all your new skills together to create a collaborative mural or individual canvas piece.

Local culture

Jurmala isn't just about beautiful beaches and wooden architecture; it’s a city that values creative expression. While the sea breeze keeps us cool, the local art scene is heating up! We love bringing our workshops to this seaside gem because the light here is incredible for outdoor painting. From the hidden corners of Majori to the creative vibes near the Dzintari Forest Park, Jurmala provides a stunning backdrop for artistic growth. We often draw inspiration from the city's unique mix of nature and urban design when teaching our mural techniques.

Fun Fact: Did you know Jurmala is home to several hidden "street art" gems? Keep an eye out for the colourful murals tucked away in the backstreets that celebrate the town's maritime heritage! 🌊
