Do I need to have any prior graffiti experience?

Absolutely no prior graffiti experience is needed to join our training in Nelspruit! We design our professional development sessions to take you from 'zero to hero.' Our expert artists will teach you the fundamentals of can control, safety, and lettering before moving into advanced pedagogical techniques. You’ll leave feeling confident and ready to inspire your students with these brand-new skills, regardless of your current artistic background.

What safety equipment is provided during the training?

We take safety very seriously. All Nelspruit workshops include high-quality FFP3 respiratory masks, gloves, and protective overalls to keep your clothes clean. We also provide a comprehensive safety briefing covering the proper use of aerosol cans and environmental considerations. Whether we are working outdoors or indoors with low-odour water-based paints, your health and safety—and that of your future students—remain our top priorities.

How long does the teacher training session last?

The training typically lasts between 2 and 4 hours, depending on the specific module and group size. This gives us enough time to cover both the practical 'hands-on' spray painting techniques and the theoretical aspects of curriculum integration. If you are looking for a more intensive multi-day certification, we can certainly customise a longer programme to dive deeper into street art history and mural production.

Is there an upfront payment required for the booking?

Yes! We foster a 'no-stress' booking environment. You don't need to pay anything upfront when you book your professional development session. Payment is only required after the workshop is completed and you are 100% satisfied with the experience. We believe in the quality of our training and want you to feel completely comfortable and excited about the journey ahead!

Where in Nelspruit does the training take place?

We can host the training at a variety of locations in Nelspruit! Whether you want us to come to your school campus to use a specific wall, or prefer to meet at one of our partner creative hubs or outdoor legal walls, we are flexible. We bring all the necessary equipment, including drop cloths and mobile boards if a permanent wall isn't available, making the setup hassle-free.

Will I receive a certificate or teaching materials?

Definitely! Every educator who completes our Nelspruit Graffiti Teacher Training receives a Graffitifun certificate of completion. More importantly, you'll get a digital pack including lesson plan templates, safety checklists, and a 'starter kit' guide to help you source materials for your own classroom. It’s a great addition to your professional portfolio and a fantastic way to show off your new skills.

Local culture

Nelspruit (Mbombela) is widely known as the gateway to the Kruger, but it’s also a hidden gem for growing urban culture in Mpumalanga. The city’s vibrant energy, fueled by its tropical climate and lush surroundings, provides a unique backdrop for street art that blends nature with urban expression. When you join our training here, you aren't just learning a skill; you’re tapping into a local movement that celebrates South African heritage in modern ways. ✨

Fun Fact: Did you know Nelspruit's name comes from the Nel family who farmed here? Today, the city's 'walls' are starting to tell a much more colourful, multicultural story through local murals and public art initiatives!
