Do I need previous graffiti experience to join the training?

Absolutely not! Our Seville art teacher training is designed for educators of all skill levels. If you are a dab hand with a brush but have never touched a spray can, we’ll show you the ropes. If you aren't 'artistic' in the traditional sense, we focus on the methodology and safety aspects so you can still lead a successful session back at your school or community centre. Everyone leaves with a masterpiece!

Is the spray paint safe to use in a school environment?

We take safety very seriously. During the professional development session, we provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective overalls. We also teach you how to set up a safe workspace for your students, including proper ventilation outdoors and how to manage a group of kids with spray cans safely. You'll leave feeling confident that you can run a risk-free, exciting art session in Seville.

How long does the teacher training session last?

The workshop typically lasts between 2 and 3 hours. We’ve found this is the 'sweet spot' for Seville educators to absorb the history, master the basic techniques, and complete a collaborative mural without feeling rushed. We can also tailor the duration if you have a specific CPD (Continuing Professional Development) schedule to meet, ensuring you get the most value for your time.

What happens if it rains on the day of my workshop?

Seville is famous for its blue skies, but if the weather turns, we have you covered. We have access to several sheltered or indoor locations that are well-ventilated and suitable for graffiti. We also have a large roster of backup artists in the region, so your training will never be cancelled due to a last-minute staff illness. Your professional development is a priority for us!

What is the minimum group size for teacher training?

We recommend a minimum group size of 5 to 10 educators to make the collaborative mural part of the session work best. However, we can accommodate much larger groups of up to 50 teachers for school-wide professional development days. If you are an individual teacher looking for training, get in touch – we often bundle smaller groups together for a more social and dynamic learning experience!

Will we be painting on paper or on real walls?

While we provide canvases for you to practice on, the real magic happens on a wall! We use legal graffiti zones in Seville where you can let loose on a large scale. This gives you the authentic street art experience. If you’d like us to come to your school and paint a permanent mural on one of your walls as part of the training, we can certainly arrange that too!

Do you provide any takeaway materials or lesson plans?

Yes! We provide all attendees with a digital 'Teacher’s Toolkit' which includes lesson plan templates, a safety checklist, and a brief history of urban art in Spain. This ensures you aren't just having a fun day out in Seville, but actually gaining a concrete resource that you can implement in your curriculum immediately. We want your students to benefit as much as you do!

Step by step

Intro and history: We kick off with a brief look at the history of street art and the specific graffiti culture here in Seville.
Gear up: You'll be fitted with professional masks, gloves, and overalls to keep your clothes clean and your lungs safe.
The basics: Our artists teach you 'can control'—how to hold the spray, nozzle types, and different pressure techniques.
Lettering and tags: You'll practice creating your own tag and learn the secrets of 'wildstyle' and 'blockbuster' lettering.
Safety briefing for schools: A dedicated segment on how to manage materials and student safety in a classroom setting.
The mural project: Work together with other teachers to create a massive, vibrant mural on a real Seville wall.
Feedback and cleanup: We review the techniques used and discuss how to adapt these methods for different age groups.

Local culture

Seville isn't just about Flamenco and the Giralda; it has a thriving underground street art scene that brings a splash of colour to areas like Alameda de Hércules and the Polígono Sur. The city's warm light and historic walls provide the perfect backdrop for urban expression. We love teaching here because the Sevillano spirit is naturally creative and expressive.

Fun fact: Seville is home to some of the most impressive legal graffiti walls in southern Spain, where local legends and international artists frequently collaborate to keep the city's visual landscape constantly evolving! 🎨
