Do I need previous graffiti experience to join the training?

Absolutely! Our training is designed for all skill levels. You don't need to be an expert illustrator to teach graffiti. We focus on the 'building blocks' of street art—lettering, can control, and layering—which are easy to learn and even easier to pass on to your students once you know the core mechanics we teach.

How do you handle health and safety in a school setting?

Safety is our number one priority. We cover everything from proper mask usage and ventilation to choosing water-based paints for indoor use. You will leave the session with a full health and safety checklist that ensures your future classroom remains a safe, fun, and fume-free environment for all your pupils.

What kind of teaching materials will I receive?

We provide a comprehensive digital toolkit. This include step-by-step lesson plans, a history of street art, templates for 'tagging' exercises, and a list of recommended affordable supplies. You won't just leave with skills; you'll leave with a ready-to-go curriculum that fits into the standard National Curriculum framework.

How long does the training session last?

Our standard professional development workshops in Las Palmas typically last between 2 to 3 hours. This allows enough time for a deep dive into the history, a heavy dose of hands-on spraying, and a final session on how to manage a classroom of 30 kids with spray cans!

Can the training take place at my school?

We can host the training at one of our vibrant local street art spots in Las Palmas, or we can come directly to your school or studio. If we come to you, we just need an outdoor wall or a well-ventilated space where we can set up our mobile boards.

Are all materials included in the price?

Yes, we provide everything you need. This includes high-quality spray cans with various nozzles (caps), protective overalls, gloves, and professional-grade masks. We also provide the canvases or boards we'll be practicing on. You just need to wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a tiny bit of paint on!

Can this training help with student engagement?

Definitely. Street art is a powerful tool for reaching students who may feel disconnected from traditional 'fine art' like oil painting or charcoal drawing. It’s physical, it’s modern, and it’s inherently inclusive. We’ll show you how graffiti can boost confidence and provide a voice for students from all backgrounds.

The experience

Why choose our graffiti training in the heart of Gran Canaria? Because we believe that when teachers have fun, students learn better! Here is why our program stands out:

Boost Engagement: Graffiti is a 'hook' that gets even the most disengaged students back into the art room. ✨
Hands-on Expertise: You'll be taught by working graffiti artists who live and breathe this culture every day.
Comprehensive Resources: You don't just get a workshop; you get a full set of lesson plans and safety guides to take away. 📚
Practical Safety: We teach you how to manage a classroom environment safely, so you can focus on the art, not the fumes. 💪
Local Networks: Connect with other creative educators in Las Palmas and share your teaching journey. 🤝
Flexibility: We can come to you, or you can come to our sun-soaked outdoor studio!

Step by step

Introduction to Street Culture: We start with a brief history of graffiti, from New York subways to the modern murals found in Las Palmas, helping you frame the context for your students.
Tool Mastery: Learn about different spray paint brands, pressure types, and the 'science of the cap'—the nozzles that create different line widths.
The Basic Stroke: Practice the fundamentals of can control, including distance, speed, and angle to prevent drips and fuzzy lines.
Lettering & Style: Dive into 'throw-ups' and 'blockbusters,' learning how to help students develop their own unique 'tag' or visual signature.
Stencil Techniques: We teach you how to integrate stencils into your lessons, which is a fantastic way to ensure every student achieves a clean, professional-looking result.
Classroom Management: The most important part! We share our 'Art of the Workshop' secrets on how to keep a group of students organised, safe, and focused while using spray paint.
Practical Mural Project: Put it all together by collaborating on a joint piece, giving you the confidence to lead a large-scale project at your school.
Curriculum Integration: We brainstorm together on how to link your new skills to topics like social justice, history, or geometry.
Certification & Toolkit: Receive your workshop certificate and a digital pack of resources to start your first lesson.

Good to know

Our teacher training sessions are designed to be as flexible as your schedule. Here’s what you can expect:

Duration: Usually 2.5 to 3 hours, but we can extend this for full-day intensive sessions.
Group Sizes: We cater to individual teachers or entire school departments. Small groups ensure plenty of one-on-one "can-time."
What's Included: All spray paint, safety gear (masks/gloves/overalls), practice boards, and a digital teacher's resource pack.
Safety First: We use high-quality, low-odour paints and provide professional-grade respiratory protection.
No Stress: No upfront payment is required! You can pay after the training is complete, ensuring you're 100% happy with the experience.

Local culture

Las Palmas isn't just a holiday destination; it's a living gallery! From the historic narrow streets of Vegueta to the urban canvases of the Guanarteme district, the city is bursting with creative energy. Our training sessions often draw inspiration from the local 'Canarian style,' which blends tropical colours with bold, contemporary lines. We love taking teachers to see the massive murals near the port for a bit of real-world inspiration before we start spraying.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Gran Canaria hosts several urban art festivals annually? The island’s unique light and "eternal spring" weather make it one of the best places in Europe for year-round outdoor street art creation! ☀️
