Do I need any previous art experience to join?

Absolutely! Our workshops are designed for everyone, from those who can't draw a stick figure to aspiring muralists. Your professional artist-tutor will guide you through the basics of can control, pressure, and linework. In the university setting, it’s all about experimenting and having a laugh with your mates while learning something cool. You’ll be amazed at the masterpiece you can create by the end of the session!

What materials are included in the workshop?

We’ve got you covered! We provide high-quality spray paint in a rainbow of colours, professional-grade masks, disposable gloves, and protective suits to keep your campus gear clean. We also provide the canvases or boards for you to work on. Just turn up with some creative energy and wear clothes you don't mind getting a tiny bit of dust on—just in case!

Is the spray paint safe to use?

Student safety is our top priority. We use low-odour, high-quality spray cans and provide all necessary PPE, including specialised masks and gloves. Our instructors are experienced professionals who provide a comprehensive safety briefing before anyone touches a can. We ensure the workspace is well-ventilated and that everyone follows proper handling procedures throughout the entire creative process.

How long does a typical session last?

Standard university workshops typically run between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a proper introduction, technique practice, and then plenty of time for the group to collaborate on a large-scale mural or individual pieces. If you have a specific schedule or a shorter 'taster session' in mind for a campus fair, we can definitely adapt the timing to suit your event.

Do we have to pay upfront?

Flexibility is our middle name! We don't require any upfront payment or deposits to secure your date. You can book with confidence knowing that you only pay after the workshop has been successfully completed. This makes it much easier for student unions or university departments to manage their budgets and approvals without the stress of early financial commitments.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day?

Tacna’s weather is usually great for outdoor painting, but if it rains, we have backup plans! We can work under gazebos or move the session to a well-ventilated indoor space using water-based, low-odour paints specifically designed for indoor use. We also have a roster of backup artists to ensure your event goes ahead even if an instructor is unwell. We won't let you down!

Can the whole group work on one large mural?

Definitely! While we love individual creativity, university workshops often focus on a 'big picture' project. We can design a session where everyone contributes to a massive collaborative mural that represents your faculty, student society, or graduation year. It’s a fantastic way to build team spirit and create a lasting (or temporary) monument to your time together in Tacna.

The experience

Why settle for another PowerPoint presentation when you could be creating a mural? Street art is the ultimate equaliser—it doesn't matter what you're studying; everyone starts with a blank canvas and a spare can. Here’s why Tacna students love our workshops: 🚀

Stress Relief: There's something incredibly therapeutic about the hiss of a spray can. It's the perfect way to blow off steam during exam season.
Inclusivity First: You don't need to be an 'artist' to join in. We make sure everyone feel confident and creative from the very first spray.
Instant Campus Icons: Create something that looks amazing in photos and provides a brilliant backdrop for your uni's social media.
Professional Guidance: You'll be working with real graffiti artists who live and breathe this culture—no 'fake' art teachers here!
Zero Financial Risk: With our "no upfront payment" policy, your student union can book with total peace of mind.
The Cool Factor: Let's be honest—graffiti is just cooler than a standard pizza night. Give your students an experience they'll actually talk about. 🎤

Step by step

The Briefing: We kick things off with a high-energy intro, covering the history of street art and the 'rules of the road' for using spray cans safely.
First Sprays: Grab a can and get a feel for it! You'll start on practice boards to learn about pressure, distance, and how to create different line widths.
Tagging Basics: Every artist needs a signature. We’ll show you how to develop your own 'tag' or stylized moniker using classic graffiti lettering techniques.
Sketching the Concept: Whether it's a giant mural or individual canvases, we'll help you sketch out the design. For uni groups, this is where the collaboration gets real!
Filling and Fading: Learn the pro secrets of 'filling in' your shapes and creating smooth colour gradients (fades) that make your art pop.
Outlining: This is the tricky part! We’ll guide you through the 'final outline' to give your piece that sharp, professional look that defines great street art.
The Masterpiece: Put the finishing touches on your work, adding highlights, shadows, and 'force fields' to make the design jump off the wall.
Group Photos: Once the paint is dry, we’ll take some epic group shots of you and your crew with your finished work—perfect for the uni social media pages!
Clear Up: We handle the tidy-up, ensuring the site is left spotless, leaving only your incredible new artwork behind.

Local culture

Tacna is a city with a fierce sense of identity and history, known throughout Peru as the "Heroic City." While it’s famous for its monuments and the stunning Cathedral, there’s a growing contemporary heartbeat here too. The local youth culture is vibrant, and you can see flashes of creative expression popping up near the Universidad Nacional Jorge Basadre Grohmann. Our workshops tap into that local energy, encouraging students to blend traditional Tacneño pride with modern urban aesthetics. ✨

Fun Fact: Tacna is home to the Arco Parabólico, a huge monument to heroes of the past. Imagine taking that same spirit of local pride and channeling it into a 5-metre tall colourful mural!

From the bustling stalls of Mercadillo Bolognesi to the quiet plazas, Tacna is a city that respects its roots but isn't afraid of the future. Our street art sessions provide a platform for Tacna’s students to express their unique perspective on life in this border city, creating an artistic bridge between tradition and the new generation. 🎨

Pricing

We believe every university event is unique, so we don't do "one size fits all" pricing. Whether you're a small student club on a budget or a large department planning a gala, we’ll work with you to make it happen. 💸
