Why choose GraffitiFun for your after-school programme in the hills of Valparaiso? We don't just hand out paint cans; we provide a structured, educational journey into the world of urban art. Here’s why we’re the top choice for schools and parents:

Boosts Confidence: Seeing a giant mural come to life from their own hands gives students a massive sense of achievement. 🏆
Professional Mentorship: Our artists aren't just painters; they are passionate teachers who love sharing their secrets.
Team Building: Many of our projects involve collaborative murals where students must communicate and work together to succeed.
No Stress Booking: With no upfront payment and backup artists ready to go, we make the organising part easy for you. 🔥
Skill Development: From fine motor skills to colour theory and perspective, there’s a lot of "stealth learning" involved!

How it works

Introduction & Safety: We start with a briefing on how to use the equipment safely and respect the urban environment.
Sketching Ideas: Students grab paper and pencils to map out their tags and characters before touching the cans.
Can Control: We teach the 'nozzle-know-how'—learning how distance and finger pressure change the lines.
The First Lines: Students move to the wall or canvas to practice basic shapes and outlines under expert guidance.
Filling & Fading: We dive into colour theory, teaching how to fill shapes and create cool gradients and shadows.
Outlining: The 'magic' step where we use high-contrast colours to make the artwork pop off the surface.
Detailing: Adding highlights, 'shines', and those final professional touches that make the piece unique.
The Big Reveal: We step back as a group to admire the completed mural and take photos of the masterpiece!

Frequently asked questions

What age group is the Valparaiso after-school workshop for?

Any student aged 6 and up can join our after-school sessions! We tailor the complexity of the art and the techniques used to the age group. Whether they are primary schoolers looking to play with colours or teenagers wanting to master complex lettering and shading, our professional artists adapt the curriculum to make sure everyone feels challenged and successful. We focus on individual growth within a team setting.

Is it safe for children to use spray paint?

Safety is our absolute priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective overalls to keep clothes clean. Our spray paints are selected for low-odour and safety. Furthermore, our workshops always take place in well-ventilated areas or outdoors. Our instructors are trained to manage groups safely, ensuring that the spray cans are used responsibly and that every student follows the established safety protocols throughout the session.

Do students need prior art experience to participate?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for all skill levels. Most students have never touched a spray can before they meet us. We start with the absolute basics—how to hold the can, how to control the pressure, and how to draw a straight line. By the end of the term, you’ll be amazed at the complex murals they can produce. It’s all about building confidence through creative practice.

What materials are included in the workshop?

We provide everything needed for a complete street art experience. This includes professional-grade spray paint in a huge variety of colours, high-quality caps (nozzles) for different effects, protective gear (masks, gloves, suits), and the surfaces to paint on, such as large wooden panels or canvases. You just need to bring your enthusiasm and wear some old shoes that you don't mind getting a tiny bit of paint on!

How long does a typical afternoon session last?

Our standard after-school sessions usually last between 1.5 to 2 hours. This provides enough time for a creative warm-up, skill-building exercises, and the actual painting process without the students losing focus. We can also arrange longer immersion projects or multi-week programmes that meet once a week to develop a large-scale mural project. We are flexible and can adapt the timing to fit your school's specific schedule.

Can parents come and see the artwork being created?

Absolutely! We love it when parents come to see the final reveal of a mural. While the workshop itself is a focused time for the students to learn and experiment, we often hold a 'gallery walk' or a small presentation at the end of the term or session. It’s a fantastic way for the kids to show off their new skills and for the community to see the incredible work they’ve accomplished.

Do you offer workshops at our specific school location?

Yes, we can! While we have amazing locations in Valparaiso, we are fully mobile. If your school or community centre has a suitable outdoor wall or a well-ventilated space, we can bring the entire GraffitiFun experience to you. We handle all the setup and clean-up, ensuring that the only thing left behind is the beautiful artwork created by the students. We’ll even scout the location beforehand to ensure it’s safe.
