How it works
- Intro & inspiration: Our pro artist kicks things off with a high-energy talk about the history of graffiti and how it evolved into modern street art.
- Safety first: We suit everyone up in protective overalls, masks, and gloves, explaining how to use the equipment responsibly.
- The first spray: Kids learn the 'three pillars' of spray painting: distance, speed, and pressure. They'll start with simple lines and dots on practice boards.
- Sketching the vision: Students work together to sketch out their theme—perhaps something related to Salto's history or school values!
- Outline & colour: The fun really starts as the kids begin filling in the large shapes with vibrant colours under the guidance of our artists.
- Mastering techniques: We teach them 'fading', 'dusting', and how to create highlights that make their artwork pop off the wall.
- The final outline: Our artist helps with the tricky 'clean' outlines to ensure the final mural looks professional and something the whole school can be proud of.
- Photos & celebration: We wrap up with a group photo in front of the masterpiece. It's time to celebrate their new skills and creative achievement!

Is the spray paint safe for primary school children?
Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority. We use low-odour, water-based spray paints whenever possible for younger children, and everyone is geared up with high-quality masks, gloves, and overalls. Our professional artists are experts at managing primary-school-aged groups, ensuring a supervised environment where the only thing that gets wild is their imagination. We've hosted hundreds of school sessions across Uruguay without a hitch!
What is the minimum age for the students?
We usually recommend our workshops for children aged 6 and up (Year 2 and above). At this age, they have the motor skills to control the spray cans and can really engage with the creative process. For the younger kids in the group, we focus more on bigger shapes and 'filling in' the art, while the older students can try their hand at more detailed outlines and shading techniques.
Do we need to travel to a studio, or do you come to our school?
We are completely mobile! We love coming to schools in Salto because it provides a familiar environment for the kids. If you have a playground, a brick wall (with permission!), or even a large indoor space with good ventilation, we can make it work. We bring protective floor coverings to ensure no unwanted paint ends up on your school property—only on the designated masterpieces!
How long does a typical school session last?
A standard primary school workshop lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours. This is the 'sweet spot' for keeping energy levels high and attention spans locked in. Within this time, we cover the history of street art, safety demos, practice sessions, and the creation of a final collaborative mural or individual canvases. We can also adjust the timing to fit your specific school timetable.
What materials do we need to provide?
The best part is that you don't need to do a thing! Graffitifun provides everything: premium spray paint in a rainbow of colours, caps (nozzles), gloves, masks, protective suits, and the 'canvases' (which could be boards, plastic wrap walls, or a permanent mural space). Just make sure the kids are wearing old clothes underneath their overalls, just in case! 🎨
Do we have to pay in advance to secure our date?
Not at all! You only pay once the workshop is finished and you're 100% happy with the result. We believe in our service so much that we don't require upfront deposits. After the kids have finished their street art experience in Salto, we'll send over the invoice. It makes the booking process completely stress-free for teachers and school administrators.
What happens if it rains on the day of the workshop?
Rain isn't a problem! If the weather takes a turn, we can move the workshop indoors to a gym or large hall. we use special floor coverings and have plenty of experience setting up temporary 'graffiti walls' using stretch film or wooden boards. Your creative spray-painting session will go ahead no matter what the Uruguayan weather decides to do! ✨
