Do the students need any previous drawing skills?

Not at all! Our primary school workshops in Mercedes are designed specifically for beginners. Our professional artists break down the process into simple, manageable steps that even the youngest students can follow. We focus on building confidence through creativity, ensuring every child feels like a master artist by the end of the session. It is all about having a go and enjoying the process of making art together.

Is using spray paint safe for primary school children?

Safety is our absolute priority. We use low-pressure spray cans that are easier for smaller hands to control, and we provide high-quality protective gear including gloves, masks, and aprons. All sessions are lead by experienced graffiti tutors who supervise the children closely throughout the entire process. We ensure the environment is well-ventilated and that all safety protocols are followed to the letter while keeping the vibe fun.

What should the students wear on the day?

While we provide protective aprons and gear, graffiti is a hands-on art form and things can sometimes get a bit messy! We always recommend that students wear 'old clothes' or their PE kits on the day of the workshop. This ensures that any accidental splashes of paint won't ruin a good school uniform, allowing the children to fully immerse themselves in the creative experience without worry.

How long does a typical school workshop last?

We are extremely flexible! A typical primary school workshop in Mercedes lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on your school timetable and the number of students participating. We can run a single intensive session or rotate multiple classes through shorter 'taster' workshops over the course of a full school day. We work around your bells and break times to make it seamless.

Do we need a specific space at the school for this?

Ideally, we love to work outdoors against a school wall or on large wooden boards set up in the playground. However, if the Uruguayan weather doesn't play ball, we can move things indoors to a well-ventilated sports hall or large art room. We use floor coverings to protect your surfaces, so your school stays clean while the creativity flows. We bring all the necessary equipment with us.

Can the workshop theme be linked to our current curriculum?

Absolutely! Graffiti is a brilliant way to explore themes like teamwork, community, environmental awareness, or even specific subjects like history or literature. Just let us know what you are currently studying in Mercedes, and our artists can tailor the design and the 'theory' part of the workshop to align with your school's curriculum goals. It is education disguised as pure, colourful fun!

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your Mercedes school? Because it’s more than just painting—it’s a way to engage students who might struggle with traditional art forms. Here is why it works:

🔥 Boosts Confidence: Seeing a massive, vibrant piece of art they helped create gives kids a huge sense of achievement.
🤝 Teaches Teamwork: Students must collaborate and communicate to ensure their individual sections blend into one cohesive mural.
💪 Develops Fine Motor Skills: Controlling a spray can requires focus, hand-eye coordination, and a steady hand.
🏆 Professional Mentors: Our artists are not just painters; they are passionate teachers who inspire the next generation.
✨ Stress-Free for Teachers: We bring everything and handle the cleanup, so you can just enjoy watching your students shine.

Step by step

Intro and safety briefing: We kick things off with an energetic introduction to street art history and a vital safety run-through regarding the equipment.
Sketching the vision: Students grab paper and pencils to brainstorm their designs and understand the 'flow' of graffiti letters and characters.
Nozzle knowledge: Our pros teach the kids about different 'caps' and how they change the spray pattern from thin lines to fat fills.
First lines: Under close supervision, students practice their first strokes on a practice wall to get a feel for the pressure and distance.
The big outline: We move onto the main project, where students begin outlining the collective masterpiece or their individual canvases.
Filling with colour: This is the best part! The children learn blending techniques to fill their designs with vibrant, popping colours.
Adding the 'pop': We teach the secret of highlights and 3D shadows to make the artwork look like it is jumping off the wall.
The final tag: Every artist needs a signature. Students add their own custom 'tag' to the finished piece of art.
Group photo and cleanup: We celebrate the hard work with a group shot in front of the mural before we handle all the tidying up.

Local culture

Mercedes, the "City of Landscapes", is the perfect backdrop for a creative revolution! Known for its beautiful waterfront and artistic soul, Mercedes has always embraced the arts. By bringing a graffiti workshop to your primary school, you are connecting your students with the modern evolution of that local creative spirit. We love the laid-back vibe of Soriano and the way the community celebrates its heritage through murals and public art. ✨

Fun Fact: Mercedes is famous for its "Jazz a la Calle" festival, proving that this city knows exactly how to celebrate freestyle creativity and improvisation—just like graffiti art! 🎷
