Do I need to be a professional artist to take this training?

Absolutely no previous street art experience is necessary! Our teacher training in Mercedes is designed to take you from a complete novice to a confident graffiti instructor. We focus on the pedagogy of street art, teaching you how to break down complex spray painting techniques into manageable, 'teachable' steps for your students, regardless of your personal artistic background.

How do you handle health and safety in a school setting?

Safety is our number one priority. We cover everything from the correct use of high-quality respirators and gloves to managing ventilation and floor protection. You’ll learn how to set up a safe 'spray zone' in a typical school environment and how to manage large groups of students with spray cans responsibly, ensuring everyone has a blast without any risks.

How long does the training session last?

The training session in Mercedes typically lasts between 3 and 4 hours. This gives us enough time to cover the theoretical history of graffiti, hands-on technique practice, and the educational framework for your own future lessons. We ensure you get enough 'can-time' to feel comfortable demonstrating techniques to your pupils.

What materials are included in the workshop?

We provide everything you need on the day! This includes premium low-pressure spray cans (which are easier for beginners to control), various nozzle types (caps), protective suits, masks, gloves, and practice surfaces. We also provide digital resources and lesson plan templates that you can take away and use in your classroom immediately.

Why is graffiti a good fit for the Mercedes school curriculum?

Mercedes has a beautiful relationship with public art, and using graffiti in schools is a brilliant way to engage 'at-risk' or disengaged students. Our training shows you how to turn 'vandalism' into a conversation about community, ownership, and legal creative expression. It’s a powerful tool for social inclusion and building confidence in young people.

Is there an upfront payment required for the booking?

We believe in the quality of our training, which is why we don't require upfront payments. You can book your session, and payment is only handled after the workshop is complete. We want you to be 100% satisfied with the professional development you've received before any money changes hands. It’s all about trust and artistic passion!

Step by step

Intro to the spray can: We start with the basics of pressure control and how different 'caps' create different line widths.
Safety protocols: Learning how to set up a safe, ventilated environment for students and the correct use of PPE.
The anatomy of a 'piece': Breaking down graffiti letters into bars, 3D effects, and highlights for easy teaching.
Colour theory in practice: Demonstrating how to blend colours and create 'fades' using spray paint on large surfaces.
Pedagogical framework: Discussing how to link street art to history, social issues, and the local Mercedes art scene.
Mock teaching session: You’ll practice explaining a specific technique to the group to build your instructional confidence.
Sketching to scale: Mastering the 'doodle grid' method to help students translate small sketches onto large walls.

Local culture

Nestled along the banks of the Rio Negro, Mercedes is famously known as the "City of Landscapes." But it's not just the natural beauty that inspires; the city has a growing appreciation for public murals and creative expression. By bringing graffiti training into your classroom, you're tapping into a modern Uruguayan movement that celebrates local identity through bold, colourful visuals. We often find inspiration in the local architecture and the serene riverside vibes when choosing our training locations. 🔥

Fun Fact: Mercedes is home to the "Jazz a la Calle" festival, proving that this city has a deep soul for improvised, grassroots art. Our graffiti workshops follow that same spirit of rhythmic, spontaneous creativity! 🎷🎨
