Do I need to have any previous drawing or painting experience?

While having a bit of creative spark helps, you absolutely do not need to be an artist to enjoy our public art workshop in Mercedes. Our professional instructors are experts at breaking down complex mural techniques into simple, manageable steps. We guide you through everything from holding the can to layering colours. You’ll be amazed at the high-quality street art you can produce with just a little bit of expert guidance!

Is the workshop safe, and what protective gear is provided?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality FFP2 or FFP3 respiratory masks to protect you from fumes, as well as protective overalls and gloves to keep your clothes clean. All our spray paints are professional-grade but used in a controlled, outdoor environment. Our instructors provide a comprehensive safety briefing before anyone touches a can, ensuring a fun, worry-free environment for every participant in Soriano.

Where exactly in Mercedes do the graffiti workshops take place?

Mercedes is the capital of Soriano, and we have several approved locations for public art projects. Depending on the size of your group and the nature of the workshop, we might work on designated legal street art walls or portable large-scale canvases in public squares. Once you book, we’ll coordinate the best spot that captures the local vibe while providing a comfortable space for your group to create.

Do I need to pay in advance to secure my booking?

We believe in a 'fun-first' approach! Our policy is simple: you only pay after the workshop is complete. This ensures you are 100% satisfied with the experience we provided. You can book your date and time with confidence, knowing that our team of artists is dedicated to making your session in Mercedes the highlight of your week without any upfront financial pressure.

What happens if it rains on the day of our street art session?

Uruguay's weather is usually great, but if it rains, we’ve got you covered. For smaller groups, we can often move to a sheltered outdoor area. If the weather is truly uncooperative, we can reschedule your session at no extra cost, or we can bring the experience indoors using special low-odour water-based spray paints on large canvases. We monitor the local forecast closely to ensure your creative flow isn't interrupted.

How long does a typical graffiti workshop experience last?

Standard public art sessions in Mercedes typically last between 1.5 and 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a proper introduction, technique practice, and the creation of a full-scale piece. If you are looking for a more intensive masterclass or a large-scale community mural project, we can extend the duration to a full day. Just let us know your goals when you request your quote!

Can you host workshops in other Uruguayan cities?

Absolutely! While Mercedes is a fantastic hub for public art, Graffitifun operates across Uruguay. We regularly host workshops and mural projects in Artigas, Montevideo, Salto, and Paysandu. If you have a multi-city project or are travelling across the country, we can coordinate professional street art experiences at various locations to suit your itinerary or corporate needs.

Local culture

Mercedes, famously known as the "City of Fertile Land" (Ciudad la Fértil Tierra), has a deep-seated appreciation for aesthetics, evidenced by its beautiful waterfront "Costanera" along the Río Negro. In recent years, the city has embraced contemporary public art as a way to celebrate its heritage and modern spirit. Our workshops tap into this local pride, often incorporating motifs that reflect the natural beauty of Soriano or the rhythmic vibes of Uruguayan Candombe music.

Fun Fact: Mercedes was the first city to join the "Grito de Asencio" revolution. That same rebellious, pioneering spirit is exactly what we channel when we pick up a spray can to create something new on the city's walls! 🏛️

By participating in a workshop here, you're not just painting; you're joining a growing lineage of artists who see Mercedes as a canvas for community expression. From the traditional architecture to the modern murals popping up near the centre, the city is a living gallery.
