Do we need any previous artistic experience to participate?

Absolutely not! Our Popondetta workshops are designed for everyone, from those who haven't picked up a pen in years to seasoned hobbyists. Our professional artists guide your team through the basics of spray painting, lettering, and blending. The focus is on teamwork and having a blast, not creating a gallery masterpiece (though you'll be surprised at how good the final result looks!). We provide all the tips and tricks needed to make everyone feel like a street art pro.

How long does a typical team development workshop last?

Standard team development sessions usually run between 2 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a proper safety briefing, technique practice, and the collaborative creation of your large-scale team mural. If you have a tighter schedule or want a more intensive deep-dive, we can certainly adjust the duration to fit your event's timeline. We are flexible and aim to make the experience as seamless as possible for your group.

What should we wear and is the paint messy?

Safety and cleanliness are our top priorities. We provide all participants with high-quality protective gear, including gloves and masks. We also offer disposable coveralls to keep your clothes paint-free. The spray paint we use is professional-grade, and our instructors ensure the workspace is well-ventilated and organized. While we take every precaution, we do recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes that you wouldn't mind getting a tiny speck of paint on!

Where in Popondetta do the workshops take place?

We can host the workshop at one of our partner locations in Popondetta or, if you have a suitable outdoor space or a very well-ventilated indoor area at your office, we can come to you! We are fully mobile and bring all the boards, plastic sheeting, and materials required to set up a pop-up graffiti studio anywhere. We'll handle the logistics so you can focus on the team-building.

What happens if it rains on the day of our event?

We love a rainy challenge! If your event is outdoors, we usually look for a covered area like a warehouse or large marquee. If the weather in Oro Province gets particularly wild, we can often relocate to an indoor venue or reschedule. Because we have backup artists and flexible setups, we'll always do our best to ensure your team development day goes ahead without a hitch. your creativity shouldn't be stopped by a few clouds!

Can we keep the artwork we create during the session?

The main 'masterpiece' is usually created on large wooden panels or a temporary wall which remains yours to keep! Many teams choose to display these murals in their office hallways or breakrooms as a lasting reminder of their collaboration. Additionally, depending on the package you choose, participants can sometimes create smaller individual canvases to take home. It's a fantastic way to bring a piece of the experience back to your workspace.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your team in Popondetta? Because traditional team building is a thing of the past. Street art is the perfect metaphor for a successful business: it requires a shared vision, clear communication, and the courage to try something new. 🏆

Break the Hierarchy: When everyone is wearing a mask and holding a spray can, titles disappear. It’s all about the art! 🎤
Boost Creative Problem-Solving: Graffiti is about adapting to the canvas. It teaches your team to think on their feet and embrace "happy accidents." 💡
Tangible Results: You won't just leave with memories; you'll have a giant, colourful mural that proves what your team can achieve together. 🖼️
Pure Stress Relief: There is something incredibly cathartic about the hiss of a spray can. It's the perfect way to decompress and recharge. 🔋
Expert Mentorship: Our professional artists don't just teach art—they facilitate a shared experience that strengthens bonds. 💪

Step by step

Intro & inspiration: We start with a high-energy intro, showing you some incredible street art examples to get those creative gears turning.
Safety first: Our pros walk you through the gear—suiting up in masks and gloves to ensure everyone stays safe and clean.
Mastering the can: You'll learn the 'can-control' basics, from making thin lines to filling in large areas and creating cool gradients.
Sketching the vision: Your team brainstorms a theme that represents your goals or values, sketching the outline on a giant communal canvas.
Colours & filling: This is where the magic happens! The group starts layering colours and bringing the collective vision to life with vibrant energy.
Details & outlines: We teach you how to polish the mural with sharp outlines and 'highlight' effects that make the artwork pop.
The big reveal: Step back and admire your handiwork. We take a group photo with your masterpiece—the ultimate team souvenir!
De-brief & celebrate: We wrap up the session by reflecting on the collaboration process and how these creative wins apply to the office.

Local culture

Popondetta, the gateway to the legendary Kokoda Trail, is a place of resilience and vibrant spirit. While it might be known for its lush surroundings and the dramatic backdrop of Mount Lamington, we're bringing a fresh, urban energy to the local business scene. The "Siro" spirit of community is at the heart of what we do, mirroring the local culture's emphasis on working together. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know the Queen Alexandra's Birdwing, the world's largest butterfly, calls the forests around Popondetta home? Just like this rare beauty, your team's hidden talents are waiting to emerge in full colour during our workshop! 🦋

Whether you're looking for a break between treks or a way to energise your local staff, our workshops offer a unique way to connect with the modern, creative pulse of Papua New Guinea.
