Step by step

  1. Intro & inspiration: We start with a high-energy intro to the world of graffiti, showing the kids what's possible with a spray can.
  2. Safety first: Every participant gets kitted out in masks and gloves while learning the essential 'dos and don’ts' of spray painting.
  3. Mastering the nozzle: Our pros demonstrate how to control the spray, from thin lines to 'fat' fills, getting everyone comfortable with the tool.
  4. Sketching the vision: Before hitting the canvas, the kids brainstorm their designs, focusing on bold letters and character concepts.
  5. Outline & fill: The painting begins! Participants start by outlining their main shapes and filling them with vibrant colours.
  6. Adding the 'pop': We teach shadow and highlight techniques to make the graffiti jump off the surface and look 3D.
  7. The finishing touch: Using fine-detail caps, the kids add outlines and 'flairs' to give their work that professional street art finish.
  8. Group gallery: We wrap up by admiring everyone's work, taking photos, and celebrating the new skills learned.

Local culture

Street art in Wewak

Wewak is a place where nature's beauty meets a resilient local spirit. Just as the Sepik River is famous for its intricate traditional carvings and incredible masks, our graffiti workshops encourage a new generation of Wewak’s youth to find their own modern 'tribal' style through street art. We love the laid-back coastal vibe of the town, and we think the bright, bold colours of graffiti perfectly complement the tropical backdrop of Papua New Guinea.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Wewak was a major base for the Imperial Japanese Army during WWII? Today, it’s a peaceful gateway to the Sepik, and we’re proud to bring a different kind of "movement" to the area—the vibrant movement of contemporary street art!
