Do I need any prior art experience to join the workshop? house?

Absolutely! Our workshops are designed for everyone from total beginners to budding artists. We start with the basics—how to hold the spray can, pressure control, and nozzle types—before moving on to more complex designs. Our pro artists will be by your side at your Wewak university campus, ensuring you feel confident and supported as you create your first masterpiece. No prior art experience is needed to have a brilliant time!

Is the spray paint safe to use for students?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality protective gear, including masks, gloves, and overalls to keep your clothes and lungs protected. We use professional-grade spray paints and always conduct sessions in well-ventilated outdoor areas or specially set-up spaces. Our instructors are trained to manage groups safely, ensuring a fun and hazard-free environment for all university students and staff involved. Trust us to keep the vibes high and the risks low!

How long does a typical university graffiti session last?

The duration is flexible to suit your university schedule in Wewak. Typically, our standard workshops last between 1.5 to 3 hours. This allows enough time for an introduction, technique practice, and the creation of a final piece. If you are looking for a more intensive masterclass or a quick session during a lunch break, we can adapt the timing to fit your specific event needs. Just let us know your timeframe!

Where in Wewak does the workshop take place?

We can host workshops directly on your university campus or at a nearby creative venue in Wewak. We are experts at setting up mobile "graffiti walls"—temporary structures that allow us to paint anywhere without leaving a permanent mark on university property. Whether it's a quad, a sports hall, or a car park, we bring the street art studio to you, providing a seamless and hassle-free experience for organisers.

What should students wear on the day?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little messy, just in case! While we provide protective overalls and gloves, spray paint can be unpredictable. Closed-toe shoes are a must for safety. Other than that, just bring your enthusiasm and your creative spirit. We provide all the professional materials, including premium spray cans, caps, masks, and canvases or boards, so you don't need to shop for anything.

What happens if it rains or an artist is sick?

Weather in Wewak can be unpredictable, but we’ve got it covered. If it rains, we can move the session to a covered outdoor area or an indoor space with proper ventilation using our low-odour paints. Because we have a team of backup artists, we never cancel last minute due to staff illness. We are committed to making your event happen, rain or shine, so you can book with total peace of mind.

Can we create a permanent mural on campus?

We sure do! If you want your university workshop to lead to a permanent legacy, we can facilitate a mural project. Your students can work alongside our professional artists to design and execute a professional mural on a designated campus wall. This is a fantastic way to brighten up the university environment and give students a real sense of ownership and pride in their local Wewak campus surroundings.

Step by step

Introduction & safety briefing: We kick things off with a high-energy intro to street art culture and a quick run-through of how to stay safe while spraying. 🔥
Mastering the gear: Students learn about different 'caps' (nozzles) and how they change the spray width, from thin lines to fat flares.
Technique practice: You'll start by practicing basic shapes, fades, and 'tags' on a practice wall to get a feel for the pressure of the can.
Sketching the concept: Individual or group sketching begins! Our artists help you translate your ideas from paper (or mind) to the big canvas.
Filling and fading: Learn the professional way to fill in large areas and create smooth gradients and colour transitions that pop. ✨
The 'Outlining' phase: This is where the magic happens—sharpening up your piece with crisp outlines to make the design stand out.
Adding highlights: We teach you how to add those final 'shines' and 3D effects that give your graffiti that professional, polished look. 🎨
Group photo & exhibition: Once the paint is dry, we celebrate the work with a group photoshoot—perfect for university social media!
Clean-up: We handle all the disposal of cans and materials, leaving your Wewak campus exactly as we found it.

Local culture

Wewak is a city with a stunning coastal backdrop, where the sea meets a rich cultural history. At Graffitifun, we love drawing inspiration from the local environment—think vibrant hibiscus flowers, Sepik River motifs, and the incredible aviation history of the East Sepik province. Bringing street art to Wewak’s university scene adds a modern, urban twist to this tropical setting, allowing students to blend traditional influences with contemporary graffiti techniques. 🌴

Fun Fact: Wewak was a major base for the Imperial Japanese Army during WWII. Today, it's known for its peaceful beaches, but we're here to add a "peaceful explosion" of colour to the local arts scene!

Whether you're studying near the coast or in the heart of the town, our workshops are designed to celebrate the unique spirit of Papua New Guinea. We join other major hubs like Port Moresby and Lae in fostering a new wave of creative expression among the nation's youth.
