Step by step

  1. Intro & History: Meet your local Ba artist and learn about the evolution of street art from vandalism to respected urban culture.
  2. Safety Briefing: Gear up! We fit everyone with masks, gloves, and protective suits to keep things clean and safe.
  3. Can Control: Learn the 'anatomy' of a spray can—how to swap caps (nozzles) for different line widths and effects.
  4. Basic Strokes: Practice dots, lines, and fades on your own practice board to get a feel for the pressure and movement.
  5. Sketching Your Piece: Use chalk to outline your design on the main surface, focusing on letter structure and flow.
  6. Filling & Shading: Bring your design to life with vibrant colours, learning how to blend and add shadows for 3D depth.
  7. Outlining: The 'pro' step! Master the steady hand needed to add those sharp black outlines that make graffiti pop.
  8. Final Touches: Add highlights, flares, and 'second outlines' to give your artwork that professional street finish.
  9. Group Review: Stand back and admire the collective work while discussing how to apply these skills legally in the community.

Local culture

Street art in Ba

Ba is a town known for its grit, its legendary football spirit, and its deep connection to the sugar industry. In a place with such a strong community identity, street art serves as a powerful tool for storytelling. Our Ba workshops tap into this local pride, encouraging participants to draw inspiration from the Rarawai Mill or the vibrant atmosphere of Govind Park. We believe that by giving Ba’s creative minds a legal outlet, we can turn grey walls into vibrant landmarks that celebrate the town's unique heritage. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know Ba is often called the "Soccer Crazy" town of Fiji? We often see participants incorporating the famous black and black-and-yellow colours of the Ba F.C. into their graffiti masterpieces! ⚽
