Is live painting safe for indoor events in Napier?

Absolutely! We prioritize safety by using low-odour, professional-grade spray paints and ensuring the area is well-ventilated. If the event is indoors, we can use water-based spray paints or paint pens to keep things eco-friendly and fume-free. Our Napier artists always manage their workspace to keep your guests safe while they enjoy the show.

What kind of surfaces can you paint on?

The beauty of live painting is its flexibility! We can paint on large-scale boards, stretched canvases, recycled materials, or even temporary walls. Many Napier clients love having a series of smaller canvases that can be auctioned off or given away later. We bring all the gear, including drop cloths and protective screens, so your venue stays spotless.

How long does a live painting performance usually take?

A typical live painting session lasts between 2 to 4 hours, depending on the scale and complexity of the artwork. We usually arrive an hour early to set up and get the 'blank canvas' vibe ready for when your guests walk in. In Napier, we work around your event schedule to ensure the big reveal happens at just the right moment.

Can my guests interact with the artist during the event?

We'd love that! Our artists are super friendly and happy to explain their techniques or chat about the Napier street art scene while they work. If you want a more hands-on experience where guests actually help paint, check out our brand activation or company event workshops. Live painting is generally a performance, but it’s always interactive and engaging!

Do we get to choose what the artist paints?

The design is totally up to you! We can incorporate your company logo, a specific event theme, or a piece of Art Deco-inspired Napier imagery. Most clients give us a general creative direction or a 'vibe,' and then let our professional artists work their magic to create something unique and spontaneous that fits the mood of the night.

What happens to the artwork after the event ends?

Once the paint is dry, the artwork is yours to keep! It’s a fantastic way to remember a special event. Many Napier businesses hang the finished piece in their office or lobby as a permanent memento. We can also arrange for the artwork to be divided into smaller pieces so multiple people can take a 'slice' of the event home with them.

Local culture

Napier is world-renowned for its Art Deco charm, but there’s a thriving contemporary street art scene bubbling under the surface. From the incredible "Sea Walls: Artists for Oceans" murals scattered around the CBD to the creative pockets in Ahuriri, Napier is a city that truly breathes art. Our live painting performances pay homage to this local heritage while bringing a fresh, modern edge to the Hawke's Bay region. 🎨

Fun Fact: Napier hosts some of the most stunning large-scale murals in New Zealand, many of which were created to raise awareness about marine conservation. Our artists draw inspiration from this blend of heritage architecture and modern environmental storytelling, making every performance feel right at home in the Bay.
