Can we request a specific theme or design for the live painting?

Absolutely! While our artists bring their own creative flair, we love collaborating with you to match the theme of your event. Whether you want specific brand colours, a particular Māori-inspired motif to honour Rotorua's heritage, or a depiction of your company’s values, we can tailor the live painting to suit your vision perfectly. Check out our Tag Creator on the site to get some initial ideas for styles you might like!

Is it safe to have a live painting performance indoors?

Safety is our priority. We use low-odour, professional-grade spray paints and can set up extraction systems or work in well-ventilated areas. For indoor events in Rotorua venues, we often use water-based acrylic markers or specialized low-VOC paints to ensure your guests enjoy the art without any harsh fumes. We also provide protective flooring and screens to keep the venue pristine while the magic happens.

How long does a live painting session usually take?

Typically, a live painting performance lasts between 2 to 4 hours, depending on the scale and detail of the piece. We can time the 'big reveal' or the most exciting parts of the process to coincide with your event's peak hours. If you’re hosting a longer festival in the Bay of Plenty, we can even arrange for a multi-day mural installation that evolves over time.

What materials do you provide for the performance?

We come fully prepared! The Graffitifun team brings all the spray cans, markers, canvases or boards, and protective drop cloths. We also provide safety gear if guests want to get close to the action. All we need from you is a designated space and a bit of lighting so everyone can see the masterpiece coming to life. We handle the setup and the pack-down entirely.

What happens to the artwork after the event is over?

The finished artwork is yours to keep! It’s a fantastic way to remember the event. Many Rotorua businesses choose to hang the final canvas in their office lobby or staff room as a permanent piece of local culture. If the work was done on a temporary structure we provided, we can discuss transport options to get the art to your doorstep after it dries.

What is your booking and payment policy?

We understand that event planning can be stressful, which is why we offer ultimate flexibility. You don’t need to pay a cent upfront—we only require payment after the workshop or performance is successfully completed. Plus, we have backup artists on standby across New Zealand to ensure that even if an emergency crops up, your event's entertainment is 100% guaranteed to go ahead.

Local culture

Rotorua is a city where tradition meets modern creativity, and the street art scene here is no exception. From the vibrant murals hiding in the inner-city alleyways to the artistic echoes of Māori weaving and carving patterns, art is in the DNA of the Geyser City. We love performing in Rotorua because the local community truly appreciates the "mahi" (work) that goes into every stroke of the spray can.

Fun Fact: Did you know Rotorua is home to some incredible large-scale murals that celebrate local legends and natural wonders? The city’s "street art trail" is a testament to how art can revitalise urban spaces, making it the perfect back-drop for a live painting activation! 🎨

Whether you're based in Ngongotahā or right in the CBD, we bring that authentic urban flair to your specific location, ensuring your event feels connected to the local creative pulse of New Zealand's cultural heartland.
