Do I need any prior art experience to participate?

Not at all! Our Rotorua showroom experience is designed for everyone, from total beginners to seasoned creatives. Our professional artists will guide you through the basics of can control, nozzle selection, and layering. You’ll be surprised at how quickly you can create something impressive under our wing. Whether you’re a local or just visiting the Bay of Plenty, we make sure you walk away feeling like a pro.

Is the workshop safe and are materials provided?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality respirators, gloves, and protective suits to keep your clothes clean and your lungs clear. All our spray paints are used in a well-ventilated showroom environment. Our crew will give you a full safety briefing before you even touch a can. Just wear some comfy shoes you don't mind getting a tiny bit of dust on, and we’ll handle the rest!

How long does the experience typically last?

A standard showroom experience usually lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a brief history of street art, a demonstration of techniques, and plenty of hands-on time for you to complete your masterpiece. If you’re a business looking for a shorter brand activation or a longer team-building session, we can easily customise the timeframe to suit your schedule in Rotorua.

Do I have to pay upfront to book a session?

No way! At Graffitifun, we believe in a 'play now, pay later' philosophy. You don’t need to worry about any upfront payments when booking your slot. We want you to focus on the creative excitement first. Once the workshop is finished and you’re stoked with your results, we’ll handle the payment. It’s all about building trust and ensuring you have the best possible time.

Can I take my artwork home with me?

Absolutely! One of the best parts of our Rotorua showroom experience is that you get to take your creation home. You’ll be working on high-quality canvases or boards that are easy to transport. It makes for a legendary souvenir of your time in Rotorua or a unique piece of DIY decor for your home or office. Plus, it’s a great conversation starter for when mates come over!

What is the minimum and maximum group size?

For our showroom experiences, we can host anything from small groups and families to larger corporate teams. Generally, we recommend a minimum of 5-10 people to get the best atmosphere, but we can accommodate groups of up to 50+ with enough notice. If you have a massive squad, we’ll just bring in more of our professional artists and set up extra stations to ensure everyone gets hands-on time.

The experience

Why choose a showroom experience for your next outing in Rotorua? It’s about more than just paint—it’s about breaking boundaries and discovering a side of yourself you didn't know existed. Here is why we’re the top choice for a bit of 'creative chaos' in the Sulphur City:

Hands-on guidance: Work alongside professional graffiti artists who live and breathe this culture every day. 🎤
Zero pressure: Forget stuffy art galleries—our showroom is a judgement-free zone where 'mistakes' are just part of the style.
Ultimate weather-proof fun: Don't let a rainy Rotorua day ruin your plans; our indoor setup keeps you dry and inspired. ☔
Take home your legacy: Unlike a digital experience, you leave with a physical canvas that you created from scratch. 🏆
Innovative tools: Use our exclusive Tag Creator or take our Workshop Quiz to find your vibe before you even arrive. ✨
Professional setup: High-end gear and top-tier safety equipment ensure a premium experience from start to finish.

Step by step

Warm welcome and intro: Meet our crew at the Rotorua showroom and get an intro to the vibrant world of street art and urban culture.
Gear up for action: We’ll set you up with all the necessary protective gear—suits, gloves, and masks—to keep things clean and safe.
Master the tools: Learn about different nozzles (caps), pressure control, and how to hold the can like a real street artist.
Sketch your vibe: Use our interactive Tag Creator or sketch directly onto your canvas to map out your design before hitting it with colour.
First layers: Start with the background and fill-ins, learning how to blend colours and create smooth gradients.
The sharp stuff: Move on to outlining and adding those 'power lines' that make graffiti pop off the surface.
Final flourishes: Add highlights, shines, and your personal 'tag' to claim your masterpiece.
Photo op and wrap up: Grab some shots of your work against our showroom backdrops and pack your art to take home!

Good to know

We’ve designed our Rotorua showroom experience to be as seamless as possible so you can focus entirely on the art. Here is what you need to know:

Duration: Standard sessions run for approximately 2 hours, but we can flex from 90 minutes to a full half-day.
What's included: All spray paint, specialized caps, canvases, and full protective wear (suits, masks, gloves).
Group sizes: Perfect for small groups of friends, families, or large corporate teams. We scale our artist count to match your group.
Safety: We use professional-grade ventilation and high-end respirators. Our artists are safety-trained to ensure a worry-free environment.
Weather proof: Since it’s an indoor showroom experience, we’re the perfect 'Plan A' regardless of Rotorua's unpredictable weather! 🌧️

Local culture

Rotorua is world-famous for its geothermal wonders and rich Māori culture, but there’s a growing contemporary art scene that’s just as hot as the Pohutu Geyser! From the stunning murals that brighten up the CBD to the hidden gems in local alleyways, street art is becoming a vital part of the city's visual identity. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know that Rotorua hosts several public art trails? While the mud pools are bubbling, the city's artists are busy bubbling up fresh designs that celebrate both traditional heritage and modern urban style.

Our showroom experience taps into this local creative energy, providing a safe and legal space to explore a form of expression that has deep roots in community story-telling. It’s the perfect indoor alternative when the Rotorua rain kicks in, offering a unique way to connect with the city's modern soul beyond the usual tourist trails.
