The experience

Why bring a graffiti workshop to your school? It’s more than just painting walls—it’s an educational experience that sticks! Here’s why schools in Ambato love working with us:

  • šŸ”„ Boosts Creative Confidence: There are no mistakes in graffiti, only 'happy accidents' that help kids express themselves freely.
  • šŸ¤ Real Teamwork: Students collaborate on a massive scale, learning that individual 'tags' come together to create a stunning mural.
  • šŸ’Ŗ Active Learning: It’s a physical, hands-on activity that gets kids away from screens and moving their bodies.
  • šŸŽ¤ Alternative Art: We reach the students who might not connect with traditional drawing but thrive with the scale and energy of street art.
  • šŸ† Professional Mentors: Our artists are role models who show kids that art can be a real, exciting career path.

Step by step

  1. Intro & Inspiration: We start with a high-energy intro about street art culture and a safety briefing to get everyone ready.
  2. Design Brainstorm: Students work together to pick a theme, whether it's the school's values, local Ambato nature, or a custom "crew" name.
  3. Can Control 101: Each child gets their first spray can and learns how to control the pressure, aim, and distance.
  4. Tagging Practice: We move onto creating 'tags'—the foundation of graffiti—helping kids find their own artistic signature.
  5. The Big Outline: Our artists help the kids sketch out the main design on the large canvas or wall.
  6. Filling & Fading: This is the fun part! Students learn how to blend colours and create those iconic graffiti gradients.
  7. Adding Details: Using different nozzles (caps), we add highlights, shadows, and sharp outlines to make the art pop.
  8. The Final Reveal: We step back, peel off any tape, and admire the massive masterpiece the whole class created together.
  9. Clean Up & Photos: We tidy up the site and take professional photos of the students with their work to share with parents!

Local culture

Street art in Ambato

Ambato, known as the 'City of Flowers and Fruit', is the perfect backdrop for a burst of artistic energy. Just as the city transforms during the Fiesta de las Frutas y de las Flores, our workshops transform your students into mini-muralists! The local culture here is rich with colour and resilience, providing endless inspiration for young artists. We love incorporating local elements—like the silhouettes of the nearby Tungurahua volcano or the bright floral patterns famous in the region—into our street art designs.

Fun Fact: Did you know Ambato is nicknamed 'The Garden of Ecuador'? We often encourage students to mix 'concrete jungle' styles with garden themes to create a unique Ambato street art fusion!
