The experience

Why bring a Graffitifun workshop to your secondary school? It’s more than just a fun afternoon—it’s a powerful educational tool that resonates with teenagers in a way traditional art classes sometimes can’t. ✨

  • Boosts Confidence: Seeing a 10-metre mural they helped create gives students a massive sense of achievement. 🏆
  • Develops Teamwork: You can't paint a giant piece alone; students must communicate and coordinate their styles and sections.
  • Creative Expression: It provides a safe, legal outlet for self-expression during those crucial teenage years.
  • Professional Mentorship: Our artists aren't just teachers; they are active professionals in the street art scene.
  • Zero Stress for Teachers: We handle the setup, the instruction, the materials, and the cleanup. You just bring the students!
  • Curriculum Links: Easily ties into Art, Design, History, and Social Studies.

Step by step

  1. Intro & Street Art History: We start with a high-energy intro into the culture of graffiti and how it transformed from underground tags to global gallery art.
  2. Safety & Gear Up: Students get kitted out in protective masks, gloves, and overalls while learning the essential "dos and don'ts" of spray can safety.
  3. The Masterclass: Our pro artists demonstrate fundamental techniques like fading, outlines, highlights, and using different "caps" for varied line widths.
  4. Practice Rounds: Before hitting the main wall, students get to practice their control on cardboard or practice strips to get a feel for the pressure.
  5. Design & Sketching: Working in teams, the students brainstorm their mural concept and sketch out the basic framework under the guidance of our mentors.
  6. The Big Fill: The real fun begins! Everyone works together to fill in the colours, layering the piece and watching the collaborative vision come to life.
  7. Final Details: Our artists help the students add the "finish" — the sharp outlines and "power lines" that make the graffiti pop off the wall.
  8. Group Photo & Cleanup: We celebrate the final masterpiece with a big group photo (perfect for the school newsletter!) and ensure the area is left spotless.

Local culture

Street art in Turin

Turin isn't just about elegant palazzos and chocolate; it’s a powerhouse of Italian urban art. From the murals in the Barriera di Milano district to the creative vibes of San Salvario, the city is a living museum of street culture. Our workshops often draw inspiration from local legends and the city’s unique "Murarte" project, which has been promoting legal street art for decades. We love taking students to see how the city's industrial past has been reclaimed by colour and creativity.

Fun Fact: Turin was one of the first cities in Italy to officially recognise graffiti as an art form by dedicating thousands of square metres of public wall space specifically for legal 'writing' and urban art! 🇮🇹
