Is the workshop suitable for all types of disabilities?

Absolutely! We believe art is for everyone. In Likasi, we adapt our methods to suit participants with various physical or cognitive needs. Whether it's using larger nozzles for easier spraying or providing seated options, our experienced artists ensure every guest feels comfortable and capable. We focus on what each individual *can* do, turning every stroke into a victory.

How do you ensure the safety of participants during the session?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality protective gear, including masks, gloves, and overalls. For our special needs sessions in Likasi, we use water-based spray cans whenever possible to reduce fumes and ensure a pleasant environment. Our artists are trained to supervise the use of equipment closely, making sure everyone stays safe while having a blast.

How long does a typical graffiti workshop last?

A standard special needs workshop in Likasi usually lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours. We find this is the perfect 'sweet spot' to keep energy high and focus sharp without causing fatigue. However, we are completely flexible! If your group needs more frequent breaks or a shorter, more intense session, we can easily customise the timing for you.

Do we need any prior art experience to participate?

Not at all! This is a judgment-free zone. Most of our guests in Likasi have never touched a spray can before. Our friendly local artists will guide you through everything from basic 'tagging' to creating beautiful shapes. We celebrate every splash of colour, so whether you're a budding Picasso or a total beginner, you'll create something awesome.

Where in Likasi do the workshops take place?

We can host these workshops at a variety of locations in Likasi. Most often, we work at community centres, school grounds, or specialised care facilities. If you have a specific venue in mind, just let us know! We look for accessible spaces with good ventilation to ensure everyone can move around freely and enjoy the creative process safely.

What should participants wear to the workshop?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting a little dusty. While we provide full protective overalls and gloves, graffiti can sometimes be a bit unpredictable! It's best to be relaxed so you can focus entirely on your masterpiece without worrying about your favourite outfit. Simple, practical clothing is the way to go.

The experience

Why choose a Graffitifun workshop for your group in Likasi? Because we make art accessible to everyone, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities. Here’s why our sessions are so special:

Sensory-rich experience: The sound of the rattle, the feel of the spray, and the sight of bright colours provide a wonderful sensory journey. 🌈
Confidence booster: Seeing a blank space transform into a work of art gives participants an incredible sense of achievement. 💪
Safe and professional: We use high-quality, safe materials and our artists are patient, friendly, and highly experienced.
Total flexibility: We adapt our teaching style and tools to meet the specific needs of every individual in the group.
No stress booking: With no upfront payments and backup artists on standby, your event is in safe hands. 🏆
Creative freedom: There are no 'mistakes' in graffiti, making it the perfect medium for stress-free expression.

Step by step

Introduction & safety briefing: We kick things off with a warm hello and fit everyone with their protective gear. Safety is key, so we explain how to use the equipment properly.
Learning the tools: Our artists demonstrate how the spray cans work, showing how different caps (nozzles) change the spray from thin lines to wide splashes.
Practice on the 'trial wall': Everyone gets a chance to spray freely! This is all about getting a feel for the pressure and the flow of the paint.
Sketching the concept: We help participants plan their design. Whether it’s their name or a bright abstract pattern, we keep it fun and manageable.
First layers of colour: Time to fill in the shapes! We guide the group in choosing vibrant colours to bring their ideas to life.
Adding details and outlines: This is where the art starts to pop. We help with the trickier bits like outlines or highlights to make the work shine.
Group masterpiece reveal: We take a moment to step back and admire what everyone has achieved. The sense of pride is always the best part!
Photo session & cleanup: We snap some great photos of the artists with their work before safely disposing of all materials and packing up.

Creative collaboration during a graffiti company outing

Local culture

Likasi, often called 'The Radiant City' (La Ville Lumière), is a place of incredible energy and industry. In a city known for its mining heritage and central role in the Haut-Katanga province, we bring a different kind of spark—creative energy! The local art scene in Likasi is growing, and we love introducing the modern flair of street art to this historic location. Whether we are setting up near the majestic hills surrounding the city or in a local community centre, the spirit of Likasi always shines through in the bold colours chosen by our participants.

Fun Fact: Did you know Likasi was once the site of a very important botanical garden? We often use the lush greens and vibrant floral colours of the region as inspiration for our graffiti designs! 🎨
