Is the spray paint safe for participants with sensitivities?

Absolutely! We use low-odour, water-based spray paint for our indoor sessions and ensure all areas are well-ventilated. We also provide high-quality masks and gloves. Our Lille artists are trained to monitor the group's comfort levels constantly, ensuring a safe, sensory-friendly environment where everyone can express themselves without any stress or health concerns. Safety and fun go hand-in-hand here!

What should participants wear to the workshop?

We recommend wearing old clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting a bit of 'artistic character' on. While we provide protective ponchos and gloves, graffiti can be a messy business! In a city as stylish as Lille, you'll want to save your best outfits for the Grand Place and keep your workshop gear strictly for the creative splatters and sprays.

What happens if it rains on the day of our Lille event?

Lille can be rainy, but it won't stop the art! If we are scheduled outdoors and the weather turns, we usually have indoor backup locations or can arrange for gazebos. Because we have multiple backup artists available in the Nord department, we are very flexible with rescheduling or relocating to ensure your special needs group doesn't miss out on their creative day.

Do we need any prior art experience to participate?

Not at all! Our Special Needs Program is designed for all skill levels. Our professional artists use 'guided discovery' techniques, helping participants start with simple shapes and tags before moving on to larger fills. Whether someone has never held a spray can or is a budding Van Gogh, we tailor the pace to ensure everyone feels like a pro by the end.

How many artists will be assigned to our group?

We generally recommend a 1:5 or 1:8 ratio for special needs groups to ensure everyone gets the individual attention they deserve. However, we are completely flexible. If your group in Lille requires more one-on-one support, just let us know. We can bring extra artists to make sure every participant is supported, encouraged, and guided throughout the entire spray-painting process.

How long does a typical session last?

We usually suggest 1.5 to 2 hours for our special needs sessions. This timeframe is the 'sweet spot'—it's long enough to learn the techniques and finish a masterpiece, but short enough to maintain high energy and focus. We can easily adjust the duration based on the specific stamina and needs of your participants to keep the vibes positive and fun.

Can we keep the artwork we create during the session?

One of the best parts of our Lille workshops is that you get to keep the art! Whether you've painted on individual canvases or a large collective board, those pieces are yours to display. It’s a fantastic way to remember the day and bring a splash of authentic Lille street art back to your home or facility. We’ll even help you pack them up!

The experience

Why choose our special needs program in the capital of Flanders? Because we prioritise people over paint. We’ve designed our sessions to be therapeutic, empowering, and, most importantly, a total riot! Here is why our Lille workshops stand out:

Tailored approach: We adapt our teaching style to match the communication and physical needs of every individual 🎉.
Sensory-friendly options: We can use low-noise caps and low-odour paints for those with sensory sensitivities.
Confidence boost: Seeing a giant, colourful artwork come to life gives participants a massive sense of pride and ownership.
Expert guidance: Our Lille-based artists aren't just talented; they are patient, kind, and love sharing their passion 🎤.
Stress-free planning: No deposit needed and we have backup artists ready to go, so your event is always guaranteed.
Pure joy: There’s something magical about the "hiss" of a spray can that brings out smiles in everyone 💪.

Step by step

Initial chat: We start by discussing the specific needs and abilities of your group in Lille to create a tailored plan.
Safety briefing: Our artists demonstrate how to use the gear, focusing on comfort and ease of use for all participants.
Sketching ideas: We use paper or tablets to brainstorm simple, bold designs that reflect the group's personality.
First sprays: Participants get a feel for the spray cans by making dots and lines on a practice surface ✨.
The outline: With the help of our pros, we sketch the main design onto the final canvas or wall.
Adding colour: This is the best part! Everyone jumps in to fill the design with vibrant, exciting colours.
Final touches: Our artists help add 'highlights' and 'shadows' to make the artwork really pop and look professional.
The big reveal: We take a group photo with the masterpiece and celebrate the incredible achievement of the team 🏆.

Local culture

Lille is a city that breathes art, from the classic masterpieces at the Beaux-Arts to the raw, urban energy of the Wazemmes district. The street art scene here is thriving, with murals tucked away in the cobbled streets of Vieux Lille and bold statements lining the industrial walls of the city's outskirts. This rich cultural backdrop makes Lille the perfect place for a graffiti workshop for special needs, as the city itself celebrates diversity and creative expression in all its forms. 🎨

Fun Fact: Lille was the European Capital of Culture in 2004, and since then, the 'Lille 3000' festivals have turned the city into a permanent open-air gallery where weird and wonderful street art is always encouraged!
