Is the graffiti workshop really suitable for all types of special needs?

Absolutely! At Graffitifun Pori, we believe art is for everyone. Our professional instructors are experienced in adapting their teaching methods to suit various physical, cognitive, and sensory needs. We use accessible locations and can provide specialised equipment or alternative techniques to ensure every participant can fully engage with the spray painting process. Whether it is adjusting the height of the boards or providing more hands-on guidance, we have got you covered.

What safety measures do you have in place for participants?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality protective gear, including masks, gloves, and overalls. For our special needs sessions in Pori, we use professional-grade low-pressure spray cans that are easier to control and require less finger strength. We also ensure the workshop area is well-ventilated and free of obstacles, allowing for a safe, inclusive, and worry-free creative environment for all participants and carers.

How long does a typical session last?

Our standard graffiti workshops usually last between 1.5 to 2 hours. However, we are very flexible with our special needs programmes in Pori. We understand that some groups may need more frequent breaks or a slower pace to fully enjoy the experience. We can tailor the duration to match the energy levels and attention spans of your specific group to ensure everyone stays happy and engaged.

What should participants wear to the workshop?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting a little bit of paint on. While we provide protective overalls and gloves, graffiti can occasionally be a bit messy! It is best to wear something practical so you can move around freely and focus entirely on creating your masterpiece without worrying about your favourite outfit. If it is an outdoor session, please dress for the Finnish weather!

Can carers or support staff participate in the activity?

Yes, we love it when carers or family members join in the fun! While our artists provide the professional instruction, having familiar faces around can provide extra comfort and support for the participants. We encourage a collaborative atmosphere where everyone can contribute to the artwork or simply cheer on the creators. It is a fantastic bonding experience for everyone involved in the group.

The experience

Why choose a Graffitifun workshop for your special needs group in Pori? Because we focus on what people *can* do, not what they can't. Here is why our sessions are a hit:

Sensory-rich experience: The sound of the ball rattling, the feel of the spray, and the visual pop of colour provide an engaging sensory experience. 🌈
Confidence booster: Creating a large-scale piece of art provides a massive sense of accomplishment and pride. 💪
Tailored approach: We don't do "one size fits all." Every session is customised to the physical and cognitive needs of your participants. 🛠️
Professional artists: Our team in Finland are not just great artists; they are empathetic mentors who love sharing their passion. 🎓
Zero stress booking: With no upfront payment and backup artists ready to go, your event is in safe hands. 🏆
Pure fun: At the end of the day, it's about laughter, creativity, and making a bit of a mess in the best way possible! 🎉

Step by step

Intro and safety briefing: We start with a warm welcome and a simple safety talk. We explain how the equipment works and ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe in the environment.
Meeting the gear: Participants get to handle the spray cans (with caps on!) to get used to the weight and feel. We help everyone find the best way to hold the can for their specific needs.
The 'tag' creator: Before we touch the wall, we brainstorm ideas. We can use our digital Tag Creator tool or sketch out some simple shapes and names on paper to plan our colourful design.
First lines: Our artists demonstrate the basic techniques. Then, it's your turn! We start with simple lines and circles on the board to build confidence and get a feel for the spray pressure.
Filling in the colour: Once the outline is there, we go wild with the colours! This is the most satisfying part, watching the grey surface transform into a vibrant explosion of Pori-inspired street art.
Adding shadows and highlights: Our instructors guide you through adding '3D' effects or highlights to make the graffiti pop. We provide as much or as little assistance as each person requires.
The final outline: We help tidy up the edges with a final 'power line' to make the artwork look professional and sharp.
Photo session and cleanup: We take plenty of photos of the group with their masterpiece! After the session, we handle the cleanup, leaving you with nothing but great memories and digital photos.

Local culture

Pori is a city that prides itself on its cultural heritage and its modern, inclusive vibe. Known for the legendary Pori Jazz festival and the beautiful sands of Yyteri, the city is no stranger to artistic expression. Street art is a growing part of the local scenery, and we are thrilled to bring our inclusive workshops to this historic Finnish port city. We often find inspiration in the local surroundings—from the industrial history of the Rosenlew area to the natural beauty of the Satakunta region.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Pori is home to one of the most unique park-to-coast landscapes in Finland? We often draw inspiration from the shifting sands and coastal winds when planning our mural themes! 🌊🖌️

Pricing

Our inclusive workshops are priced to build community and provide high-quality art experiences for everyone. Prices typically range from €30 to €65 per person, depending on the complexity of the setup, the group size, and any specific equipment needs.
