Do I need prior graffiti experience to join the training?

Absolutely not! This training is designed for educators of all skill levels. Whether you are a seasoned painter or have never held a spray can, our professional artists guide you through the basics of can control, safety, and letter structure. We focus on teaching you the methodology so you can confidently pass those skills on to your students in Pori, regardless of your personal artistic background.

Is the spray paint safe to use in a school environment?

We take safety very seriously. The workshop covers the correct use of high-quality respirators, gloves, and protective clothing. We also teach you how to set up a safe outdoor or well-ventilated indoor workspace for your students. We provide all the necessary Safety Data Sheets and guidelines to ensure your future school projects meet Finnish health and safety standards.

Will I receive any teaching materials or lesson plans?

Yes, every participant receives a comprehensive digital toolkit. This includes lesson plans, historical context on street art, supply lists, and 'cheat sheets' for common graffiti techniques. We want to ensure that when you return to your classroom, you have a solid curriculum ready to go, making the integration of street art into your syllabus as seamless as possible.

How long does a typical training session last?

The training typically lasts between 2.5 to 4 hours. This allows enough time for a deep dive into the history of the movement, intensive hands-on practice, and a dedicated 'pedagogy session' where we discuss how to manage a group of students with spray cans. We can also customise the duration based on your school's professional development schedule.

Where in Pori do the workshops take place?

We are flexible! We can host the training at our dedicated graffiti spots in Pori, or we can come directly to your school or community centre if you have a suitable outdoor wall or ventilated space. Many teachers prefer training on-site so they can scout the best locations for their future student workshops while our experts are there to help.

What are the pedagogical benefits of teaching graffiti?

Definitely. Beyond the 'cool factor', graffiti helps students develop fine motor skills, spatial awareness, and typographic understanding. It is also an incredible tool for reaching disengaged students who find traditional art history boring. By bringing street art into the classroom, you are validating a contemporary culture that speaks directly to the younger generation's experience.

How does the payment process work for schools?

No upfront payment is required when you book! We believe in the quality of our training, so you only pay after the workshop is completed. This makes it much easier for schools and public institutions in Finland to manage their budgets and internal approvals. Simply request a quote, and we will handle the rest of the administration for you.

Local culture

Pori is a city that breathes creativity, famously hosting the Pori Jazz festival and boasting a vibrant cultural scene. While it's known for its beautiful Kirjurinluoto park, the urban landscape of Pori provides the perfect canvas for modern street art. Did you know? Pori has been increasingly embracing public murals to revitalise industrial spaces, making it a fantastic place to be a street art educator! 🎨

Our training takes place against this backdrop of Finnish design and urban grit. We tap into the local 'Pori spirit'—tough, creative, and unapologetically original—ensuring your training feels relevant to the environment your students live in. If you've seen the local street art around the city centre, you know how much a bit of colour can change a neighbourhood. We're here to help you lead that change from the classroom. 🇫🇮
