What age group can join the Leeds graffiti summer camp?

Our graffiti summer camps in Leeds are specifically designed for young creatives aged between 8 and 16. We split the groups by age and skill level to ensure everyone gets the right amount of attention. Younger children focus on simple shapes and safety, while teenagers can dive into complex layering, character design, and advanced spray techniques. It’s all about building confidence at every stage!

Is it safe for children to use spray paint?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, protective gloves, and disposable overalls for every participant. Our Leeds venue is either outdoors or in a highly ventilated space. Furthermore, our professional artists are experienced in teaching youth, ensuring that everyone follows safety protocols while having the time of their lives with the spray cans.

What should my child wear or bring to the workshop?

Participants should wear old clothes and shoes that they don't mind getting a little paint on. Even though we provide protective gear like overalls and gloves, graffiti can be a messy business! We also recommend bringing a water bottle and a packed lunch for full-day sessions. We provide all the professional art supplies, including premium low-pressure spray cans and canvases.

Does my child need previous art experience?

Absolutely not! Our summer camps are designed for all skill levels, from total beginners who have never touched a spray can to budding street artists looking to refine their style. Our Leeds-based artists provide step-by-step guidance, starting with the very basics of 'can control' before moving on to more creative and complex designs. Everyone leaves with something they're proud of.

How does the payment process work?

We believe in a 'fun-first' policy, which is why we don't require upfront payments for our Leeds summer camp bookings. You can secure your spot and pay after the workshop is completed. This gives you peace of mind and ensures you are 100% satisfied with the creative experience we provide. We also have backup artists ready to go, so sessions are never cancelled.

Do the kids get to keep the art they create?

Yes! Every participant in our Leeds program gets to create their own individual masterpiece on a professional canvas or board to take home. Additionally, the group often works together on a large-scale mural project. It’s a fantastic way for them to show off their new skills to friends and family and decorate their rooms with authentic street art.

Will they learn about the history of graffiti in Leeds?

Leeds has a brilliant street art scene, and we often take inspiration from local legends. While most of our sessions are hands-on painting, we do incorporate stories about the history of Leeds' urban art and the importance of legal painting zones. It helps the kids understand the culture and respect the environment while they are learning to express themselves creatively.

Step by step

Introduction & Safety Briefing: We start with a high-energy intro, fitting everyone with masks and overalls while explaining the 'rules of the road' for safe spraying.
Sketching & Concept Art: Before touching a can, campers grab paper and pens to sketch out their tags, characters, and color schemes.
Can Control 101: Our Leeds pros teach the basics—how to hold the can, adjust pressure, and master different nozzles for thin lines or wide fills.
The Practice Wall: Everyone gets time to practice basic shapes and lines on a designated area to build muscle memory and confidence.
Individual Canvas Creation: Time to make it personal! Each participant starts their main piece on a canvas, applying the techniques they've just learned.
Advanced Techniques: We demonstrate cool tricks like fading, 'cutting' lines, and adding highlights to make the artwork pop.
Group Mural Project: Collaboration time! The kids work together on a massive piece, learning how to combine their styles into one giant Leeds street art masterpiece.
Final Touches & Photos: We add the finishing details and take professional photos of the artists with their incredible creations.
Clean-up & Gallery Show: We wrap up the day by tidying the gear and hosting a mini 'gallery walk' for parents to see the finished work.

Local culture

Leeds is a city that breathes creativity, from the iconic murals in the Northern Quarter to the hidden gems along the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Our summer camp draws inspiration from the local legends who have paved the way, such as the famous 'Cornucopia' mural and the vibrant works found at the Mabgate Warehouse district. We encourage our young artists to look at their city through a new lens, seeing every brick wall as a potential canvas for positive expression. 🏙️

Fun Fact: Did you know that Leeds is home to one of the tallest murals in the UK? 'Athena Rising' stands at a staggering 47 metres high near the train station, proving that in this city, the sky really is the limit for street art! 🏆

Pricing

Our pricing is designed to be as flexible as our art. Depending on the length of the program and the group size, prices typically fall within the following range:

£25 — £55 per person
