Step by step

  1. Introduction & Safety: We start with a high-energy intro to the world of street art and suit everyone up in professional protective gear.
  2. The Master Plan: Our artists lead a brainstorming session where the youth group decides on a theme or "tag" for the day.
  3. Can Control: We teach the basics—how to hold the spray can, how to control pressure, and how to create clean lines.
  4. Sketching it Out: Time to move to the wall! Participants use light colours to sketch their design onto our professional boards.
  5. Filling in the Blanks: The vibrant colours come out! Campers learn "filling" techniques to make their graffiti pop against the Rakiraki backdrop.
  6. The Outline: We teach the "cut-in" technique to sharpen the edges and make the artwork look professional and crisp.
  7. Details & Shadows: Our pros show the kids how to add highlights and 3D shadows for that authentic street art depth.
  8. Group Photo & Clean Up: We finish with a celebratory photo of the crew and their new masterpiece before handing out any take-home canvases.

Local culture

Street art in Rakiraki

Rakiraki is famous for its breathtaking views of Nakauvadra Range and its vibrant community spirit, making it the perfect backdrop for a burst of urban creativity. While Fiji is world-renowned for its traditional masi art and wood carving, we’re bringing a modern, urban twist to the local scene. Our workshops often draw inspiration from the lush surroundings of the Ra Province—think tropical patterns blended with bold, modern typography. It’s a fantastic way for local and visiting youth to connect with the island's evolving art culture.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Rakiraki is near the legendary "Tomb of Udre Udre"? While we keep our art strictly focused on the future and creativity, the deep history of this region provides endless inspiration for our storytelling through street art! 🎨
