Is the spray paint safe for kids and teenagers?

Safety is our absolute priority. We use non-toxic, water-based spray paint for our youth workshops whenever possible. Every participant is provided with high-quality protective gear, including gloves, masks, and overalls to keep clothes clean. Our professional artists are fully Garda vetted (where applicable) and trained to manage groups safely while ensuring everyone follows proper ventilation and handling procedures throughout the summer camp session.

Do participants need prior art experience?

Not at all! Our summer camp workshops in Waterford are designed for all skill levels. Whether your child has never held a spray can before or they are a budding young Picasso, our artists provide step-by-step guidance. We start with the basics of can control and move on to more complex techniques. Every participant will leave feeling like a proper street artist with a piece of work they are proud of.

What should my child wear to the graffiti camp?

We recommend that kids wear comfortable, older clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting a bit of paint on. While we provide full protective overalls, gloves, and masks, graffiti can be a messy business when the creativity starts flowing! It's best to be safe and leave the brand-new trainers at home. We provide all the professional art supplies, spray cans, and safety equipment needed for the day.

Can you bring the workshop to our specific summer camp location?

While we primarily host workshops at our dedicated street art partner locations or designated public walls in Waterford, we are fully mobile! If your summer camp has a suitable outdoor space with good ventilation and a wall or boards we can use, we can bring the entire graffiti experience to you. Contact us to discuss the logistics of your specific location and we will see what we can do.

How long does a typical graffiti session last?

Our summer camp activities typically last between 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the group size and the specific package you choose. This gives the youth enough time to learn the history of street art, practice their techniques, and complete a final masterpiece. We find this duration is perfect for keeping energy levels high and engagement levels peaked without the kids getting overtired from the physical nature of spray painting.

Are there discounts for large youth groups or community camps?

Absolutely! We want our youth workshops to be accessible. We offer significant discounts for larger groups and community-based summer camps. Our pricing is tiered, meaning the more participants you bring, the lower the price per person. We also offer flexible options for schools and youth clubs across Waterford. Step by step

Introduction and inspiration: We kick things off with a brief history of graffiti culture and a look at some iconic street art styles to get the creative juices flowing.
Safety briefing: Our artists explain the 'rules of the road,' including how to use the equipment safely and respect the local environment and community.
Mastering the can: Participants start with 'cap control' exercises, learning how to create thin lines, thick fades, and various textures on practice boards.
Sketching the design: Each camper sketches their vision on paper first, focusing on lettering, characters, or abstract shapes with guidance from our pros.
The outline: Moving to the wall or canvas, the youth learn how to 'scale up' their sketch and lay down the initial faint outlines of their masterpiece.
Filling and blending: This is where the magic happens! We teach techniques for solid fills, vibrant gradients, and 'fading' colours together seamlessly.
The final cut: To make the art 'pop,' we teach how to apply sharp outlines and highlights that give the piece a professional, finished look.
Photo op and cleanup: We celebrate the hard work with a group photo in front of the art before packing up the gear responsibly.
