What age groups can participate in the Wexford summer camp?

Our Wexford summer camp workshops are designed for children and teenagers aged 6 to 18. We group participants by age to ensure the instruction is tailored to their developmental level. Younger kids enjoy tactile play and simple shapes, while teens dive deep into complex lettering, 3D effects, and the history of the movement. Every session is supervised by vetted professional artists to ensure a safe, inclusive, and highly creative environment.

Is the graffiti workshop safe for children?

Safety is our number one priority! We provide high-quality FFP3 respiratory masks, disposable gloves, and protective ponchos to all participants. We use low-pressure spray cans which are easier for younger hands to control. Additionally, our workshops are held in well-ventilated outdoor areas or large open spaces. Our lead artists are all experienced instructors who maintain a structured environment where kids learn to respect the tools and their peers.

Do the kids need prior art experience to join?

Not at all! Our Wexford summer camp sessions are built for total beginners. We start with the absolute basics—how to hold a can, how to control the pressure, and how to draw a straight line. By the time the camp ends, your child will have progressed from simple sketches to a completed masterpiece. It’s all about building confidence and showing them that everyone has an inner artist waiting to get out.

What should my child wear to the graffiti camp?

We recommend that kids wear 'messy clothes'—items you don't mind getting a bit of paint on. While we provide protective gear like ponchos and gloves, graffiti is a hands-on, vibrant activity and sometimes a stray puff of paint happens! Old runners or boots are better than new trainers. We provide everything else, including the spray paint, caps, boards, and safety equipment, so you don't need to bring any supplies.

What happens if it rains during the outdoor session?

Ireland's weather can be unpredictable, especially in the Sunny South East! If we have light drizzle, we often work under gazebos or cover. However, if the Wexford weather turns truly stormy, we have indoor backup plans using water-based paint markers or specialized indoor-safe canvases, or we can reschedule the session to a sunnier day. We always ensure the creative flow isn't interrupted by a few raindrops!

Do the participants get to keep their artwork?

Absolutely! One of the highlights of our summer camp is that every participant gets to create an individual piece of art on a professional wooden panel or canvas board. They get to take this home at the end of the day to show off to friends and family. It’s a fantastic way for them to remember their summer experience in Wexford and keep a piece of their new-found skill forever.

The experience

Why settle for another standard summer camp when you can give your kids a chance to master a modern art form? Our graffiti workshops in Wexford are about more than just paint; they are about building a sense of identity and community. ✨

Boosts creative confidence: There are no mistakes in graffiti, only "happy accidents" that turn into new styles! 🏆
Physical and active: Moving around large-scale canvases keeps kids on their feet and engaged with their work.
Expert mentorship: Our artists aren't just teachers; they are active members of the Irish street art scene. 🎤
Safe expression: We teach the difference between illegal vandalism and the beautiful, structured world of street art.
Team building: Collaborative murals teach kids how to communicate and work together to achieve a massive visual goal. 🎉
Memorable keepsakes: Every camper leaves with their own professional piece of art to brighten up their bedroom wall.

Step by step

Safety briefing and gear up: We start by getting every camper kitted out in gloves, masks, and ponchos while explaining the 'rules of the yard'.
The art of the tag: Kids learn the history of graffiti and start by designing their own unique artist 'tag' or nickname.
Can control 101: Our pros demonstrate how to use different nozzles (caps) to create thin lines, fat drips, and soft fades.
Sketching the masterpiece: Participants move to their large canvases to sketch out their main design using chalk or light paint.
Fill-ins and flourishes: This is where the colour happens! Campers learn how to fill their letters evenly and add vibrant gradients.
The power of the outline: We teach the kids how to 'pop' their art by adding sharp black or white outlines and 3D shadows.
Highlighting and detail: The final touch! Adding shines, stars, and 'force fields' to make the artwork truly stand out.
Group mural (optional): Depending on the camp length, we often finish with a collaborative 'wall' where everyone contributes to one massive piece.
Gallery walk and photos: We end with a celebration of everyone's work, taking photos and letting the paint dry before heading home.

Good to know

Duration: Sessions range from 2-hour intensives to multi-day camp modules.

Local culture

Wexford has always had a deep connection to the arts, from the world-renowned Wexford Festival Opera to the vibrant murals popping up around the Quay and Selskar Abbey. We love bringing our graffiti workshops to this historic town because the local creative energy is just infectious! Whether we are setting up near the historic Westgate Tower or in the heart of the town’s parks, the backdrop of Wexford’s narrow streets and Viking history provides the perfect inspiration for new-age street art. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know Wexford (from the Old Norse 'Veisafjörðr') means 'the inlet of flat mud flats'? Today, we prefer to fill those flats with every colour of the rainbow!

Our camps give Wexford’s youth a chance to add their own modern chapter to the town's long artistic legacy, moving from traditional crafts to the exciting, fast-paced world of contemporary urban murals. 🔥
