Do I need any prior graffiti experience to join the training?

No previous street art experience is necessary! Our Alexandria training is designed for art educators of all skill levels. We start with the absolute basics—how to hold a spray can and manage pressure—before moving into complex mural techniques. Our professional artists will guide you through every step, ensuring you feel confident and capable of demonstrating these skills to your own students back in the classroom. It's all about learning by doing!

How long does the teacher training session last?

The standard professional development workshop usually lasts between 2.5 to 4 hours. This timeframe allows us to cover the history of street art, safety protocols, technical spray painting skills, and collaborative mural planning. We can also customize the duration to fit into your school’s professional development schedule or spread the training over two days for a more intensive Masterclass experience in Alexandria.

Is spray painting safe to teach in a school environment?

Absolutely. Safety is our number one priority. We use high-quality spray paints and provide all necessary protective equipment, including professional-grade masks and gloves. During the training, we specifically teach you how to set up a safe workspace for students, including proper ventilation techniques and waste management. You’ll leave the session with a full checklist to ensure your future classroom workshops are 100% safe.

Are all materials and protective gear included in the price?

Yes, we provide all the specialized gear you need! This includes a wide variety of spray cans with different nozzles (caps) for various effects, protective clothing, masks, and gloves. We also provide the practice surfaces, whether they are portable cellophane walls or large canvases. You just need to show up in comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little bit of paint on!

Can the training take place at my own school in Alexandria?

We are very flexible with locations! We can host the training at our partner creative spaces in Alexandria, or our team of artists can come directly to your school or institution. If we come to you, we can use an outdoor courtyard or a well-ventilated indoor space using our temporary 'cling film' walls, which leave zero mess behind. We bring the art studio right to your doorstep.

What is the cost for a group of teachers in Alexandria?

Pricing typically ranges from E£500 to E£1200 per person, depending on the number of participants and the specific depth of the curriculum you choose. Larger groups of teachers often benefit from discounted rates. Since every school has different needs, we recommend requesting a custom quote. This ensures you get the best value for your professional development budget while covering all the technical requirements.

Do we receive any materials to help us teach after the workshop?

Following the workshop, we provide you with a digital 'Teacher Toolkit' that includes lesson plan templates, a guide to buying the right materials in Egypt, and safety protocols. You will also have direct email access to our artists if you have follow-up questions while planning your first student project. We want to make sure the street art culture continues to thrive in your classroom!

The experience

Why choose Graffitifun for your professional development in Alexandria? Because we don't just teach you how to paint; we teach you how to inspire. Here is why art teachers love working with us:

Hands-on Skill Building: No boring lectures. You’ll be spraying paint within the first 15 minutes! 🎤
Classroom Ready: We focus on techniques that are easy to translate to a school setting with limited resources.
Safety First: Learn the industry standards for PPE and ventilation to keep your students protected. 💪
Boost Engagement: Street art is the #1 way to get even the most "too-cool-for-school" students excited about art class.
Expert Artist Mentors: Learn from professionals who live and breathe the Egyptian street art scene. 🏆
No Stress Booking: We handle the logistics, and you only pay after the workshop is complete!

Step by step

Intro to spray cans: We start by getting you comfortable with the equipment. You'll learn about different 'caps' (nozzles) and how they control paint flow.
Line work and pressure: Practice making thin lines, thick fades, and sharp dots. It’s all about finger control and arm movement!
Lettering and style: Our artists show you how to construct 'tags' and 'throw-ups,' the foundation of all classic graffiti styles. 🎨
Color blending: Master the art of the 'fade.' We’ll teach you how to blend colors seamlessly on a large scale.
Stenciling and masking: Learn how to use tape and cardboard stencils to create sharp, crisp details and layered designs.
Mural planning: We guide you through the process of scaling a small sketch up to a giant wall using the 'grid' or 'scribble' method.
Safety and setup: A crucial step for teachers—learn how to organize a safe workshop area for kids, including ventilation and PPE.
Collaborative execution: Work together with your fellow teachers to create a final, large-scale mural in Alexandria. 🏆
Curriculum integration: We wrap up by discussing how to link these skills to art history and contemporary social issues in your lesson plans.
