Do I need previous graffiti experience to join the training?

Absolutely! Our Chengdu art teacher training is designed for all skill levels. We start with the absolute basics of spray can control, pressure, and nozzle types. Our expert artists guide you through every step, ensuring you feel confident enough to demonstrate these techniques to your own students. It’s all about learning the 'language' of street art in a supportive, fun environment.

Is the spray paint safe to use in a classroom setting?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective suits for all participants. During the training, we also cover specific classroom safety protocols, such as proper ventilation and eco-friendly paint alternatives, so you can recreate the experience safely in a school setting or community centre without any worries.

How long does a typical teacher training session last?

Most of our professional development sessions in Chengdu last between 2 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time to cover the history of the movement, master basic techniques, and complete a collaborative mural. However, we can easily extend or shorten the session to fit your school's PD schedule or specific curriculum requirements. Just let us know!

Will I receive any resources to take back to my school?

Yes! We believe the best way to learn is by doing. After the session, you'll have access to our digital resources, and you are welcome to take photos of the process to use as teaching aids. Plus, our 'Tag Creator' tool is available online 24/7 for you and your students to practice digital lettering before hitting the walls.

Where in Chengdu do the training sessions take place?

We are very flexible! We can host the workshop at one of our vibrant local street art partners in Chengdu, or we can bring the entire setup to your school campus. We use mobile "graffiti walls" (heavy-duty plastic wrap or boards) which means we can set up almost anywhere outdoors without leaving a permanent mark on your property.

Which departments is this training best suited for?

The training is highly versatile. It’s perfect for Art & Design teachers looking for new media, but it also works for History teachers exploring urban culture, or PE teachers looking for alternative physical expressions. It’s a brilliant way to engage 'hard-to-reach' students who might find traditional fine art a bit too restrictive or intimidating.

The experience

Why choose graffiti for your next professional development session? Because street art is the ultimate bridge between traditional art history and modern youth culture. In a city as dynamic as Chengdu, staying relevant is key to engaging students. Here’s why our training stands out:

Boost Student Engagement: Learn the medium that students actually think is 'cool' and watch their participation skyrocket. 🚀
Inclusive Expression: Graffiti is a 'low floor, high ceiling' art form, perfect for students of all abilities and backgrounds.
Stress-Free Setup: We provide EVERYTHING—the paint, the masks, and the expertise. You just show up and spray! 🎨
Professional Mentors: Learn from working graffiti artists who live and breathe the Chengdu street art scene.
Cross-Curricular Magic: Discover how street art ties into history, social studies, chemistry, and digital design.
Zero Risk: With our 'pay after' policy and 100% satisfaction guarantee, your school's budget is in safe hands. 💪

Step by step

Introduction to Street Culture: We kick things off with a brief, high-energy history of graffiti and how it evolved into a global contemporary art form.
Gear & Safety Briefing: You'll be fitted with top-tier protective gear while we explain the importance of ventilation and non-toxic materials for schools.
Can Control 101: Learn the 'anatomy' of a spray can. We'll practice making dots, thin lines, and thick flares by adjusting your hand pressure and distance.
Lettering & Style: Our artists show you how to construct 'pieces' and 'tags,' moving from simple block letters to more complex, flowing styles.
Colour Theory in Motion: Discover how to blend colours directly on the wall using 'fading' and 'cutting' techniques for that professional ombre look.
The Ghost Outline: Learn the secret trick artists use to sketch out large-scale murals before the final paint hits the surface.
Collaborative Mural: Put your new skills to the test! You’ll work with fellow teachers to create a massive, vibrant piece of art from scratch.
Classroom Integration: We wrap up with a brainstorm on how to adapt these techniques for various age groups and school budgets.

Local culture

Chengdu isn't just known for its laid-back teahouse culture and adorable pandas; it’s quietly becoming a massive powerhouse for urban expression in China. The city’s street art scene is a unique blend of traditional Sichuanese influence and modern, rebellious energy. When you train with us, you’re tapping into a local culture that values 'Chuan-style' boldness and community spirit.

Fun Fact: Chengdu is home to some of the longest dedicated graffiti walls in the country, where local artists merge ancient calligraphy strokes with modern 3D spray painting techniques! 🐼🔥

By bringing this training to your school, you aren't just teaching a craft; you're connecting your students to the modern pulse of Chengdu’s evolving urban landscape. We help you navigate the local nuances of "legal walls" and how to guide students in expressing their identity within the city's unique social fabric.

Pricing

We know every school and educational board has a different budget. Our prices depend on your group size, the location, and whether you want a one-off session or a recurring professional development programme. We don't believe in hidden fees, and the best part? No upfront payment is required! You only pay once the workshop is complete and you’re 100% satisfied.
