How long does the teacher training workshop usually last?

Our Kimbe art teacher training sessions usually run for about 1.5 to 3 hours. This timeframe is perfect for getting a solid grip on spray can techniques and classroom safety without feeling rushed. We focus on high-energy, hands-on learning so you can walk away with practical skills you can use in your next lesson. If you need a more intensive full-day masterclass, just let us know and we can customise the schedule for your team!

Do I need to be a professional artist to participate?

Definitely not! This workshop is designed for educators of all skill levels. Whether you are a dedicated art teacher or a primary school teacher looking for a fun new project, our pros will guide you through every step. We start with the basics of 'can control' and move on to more advanced mural techniques. Our goal is to build your confidence so you can inspire your students, regardless of your personal artistic background. ✨

What materials are included in the professional development package?

We provide everything you need to get creative! This includes premium spray cans in a rainbow of colours, protective gloves, masks, and canvases or practice walls. We also provide educational handouts that you can take back to your school to help plan your own graffiti units. All you need to bring is your enthusiasm and some clothes you don’t mind getting a little bit of paint on. We handle the heavy lifting! 🎨

Is using spray paint safe for a school environment?

When it comes to the classroom, safety is our top priority. We teach you exactly how to manage a group of students with spray paint, from correct mask fitting to ensuring proper ventilation. We also discuss eco-friendly paint options and how to set up a 'spray zone' that keeps the school grounds clean. You'll leave the session with a full understanding of how to run a workshop that is both thrilling and perfectly safe. 🛡️

Is there a hands-on portion during the training?

Absolutely! We believe the best way to learn is by doing. After a brief intro to the history and tools, you’ll spend the majority of the time with a can in your hand. You'll practice different nozzles (caps), learn layering techniques, and even work on a collaborative piece. Our 'learn by doing' approach ensures that you actually feel the technique, making it much easier to explain the process to your pupils later on. Fun is guaranteed!

How do I book a session and what are the payment terms?

We make the booking process as stress-free as possible. You don't need to pay anything upfront! We believe in the quality of our workshops, so you only pay after the training is complete. Simply request a quote via our website, and once we've tailored the plan to your school's needs, we'll get you on the calendar. We even have backup artists ready to go, so your professional development day will never be cancelled. 🎤

Instant practical skills: You won't just learn theory; you'll leave with the confidence to hold a spray can and guide a class.

Step by step

Intro to the culture: We kick things off with a quick, high-energy dive into the history of street art and its place in modern education.
Gear walkthrough: You'll get to know your tools—from different spray can pressures to the 'anatomy' of various caps and nozzles.
Safety first protocol: Learn the essential rules for PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and how to manage a safe 'spray zone' in a school setting.
Mastering can control: Time to spray! We practice lines, dots, and fades to get you comfortable with the physical movement of the can.
Lettering and styles: Our artists show you how to construct classic 'pieces' and tags, which is always a hit with students.
Stencil and layering secrets: Discover how to use stencils and layers to create complex art quickly—perfect for shorter lesson blocks.
Collaborative mural project: Work together with your fellow teachers to create a vibrant mural, practicing the teamwork you'll facilitate in class.
Curriculum integration: We wrap up with a brainstorm on how to link graffiti to history, social issues, and traditional art techniques.
Final debrief and Q&A: Share your work, ask any final technical questions, and get your digital resource pack!

Creative collaboration during a graffiti company outing

Local culture

Kimbe is a town known for its incredible natural beauty and the stunning Kimbe Bay, but the local spirit is just as vibrant as the coral reefs! We love bringing our art teacher training to West New Britain, where the combination of traditional PNG patterns and modern street art can create something truly unique. Imagine your students blending 'bilas' inspired designs with modern graffiti techniques! The local community has a deep appreciation for storytelling, and mural art is the perfect modern medium for that tradition.

Fun Fact: Kimbe Bay is home to over 60% of the coral species found in the entire Indo-Pacific. We often encourage teachers to use this incredible local biodiversity as a theme for their graffiti mural practice! 🌊

Pricing

Every school and faculty has different needs, so we keep our pricing flexible. Our sessions are fully customisable based on how many teachers are joining and whether you want to create a permanent mural at your school!
