Step by step

  1. Initial consultation: Reach out and tell us about your class size, age group, and educational goals. We’ll help you pick the perfect workshop format for your Vancouver school.
  2. Curriculum integration: We can tailor the theme to match your current lessons—whether it's social justice, local history, or abstract geometry.
  3. Safety & setup: On the day of the event, our team arrives early to set up protective flooring, canvases, and organized workstations with all the gear.
  4. Street art intro: We start with a high-energy talk about the history of graffiti, from New York subways to Vancouver’s own mural festivals.
  5. Can control 101: Students learn the "anatomy of the can," practicing lines, dots, and fades under the guidance of our professional artists.
  6. Sketching & planning: Students brainstorm their designs on paper first, learning how to structure letters and choose complementary colors.
  7. The main creation: This is where the magic happens! Students apply their skills to a large-scale mural or individual canvases with 1-on-1 coaching.
  8. Final touches: We teach techniques for "shining" and outlining to make the artwork pop and look professionally finished.
  9. Gallery walk: We conclude with a group critique where students share their work and celebrate each other's creative breakthroughs.

Local culture

Street art in Vancouver

Vancouver is a global hub for street art, famously celebrated during the annual Vancouver Mural Festival which has transformed neighborhoods like Mount Pleasant into massive outdoor galleries. Our workshops tap into this local pride, encouraging students to look at their city through a lens of color and creativity. We often discuss the local legends who have shaped the BC street art aesthetic and how public art contributes to the vibrant culture of the West Coast.

Fun fact: Vancouver didn't always embrace street art! In the 1990s, the city had some of the strictest anti-graffiti laws in North America. Today, it’s the exact opposite—the city proactively commissions murals to prevent unwanted tagging and to celebrate cultural diversity! 🎨

Pricing

Our workshop pricing is flexible to accommodate different school budgets in British Columbia. Rates generally range between C$40 and C$90 per student, depending on the scale of the project and materials used.

We believe every student deserves access to the arts, so we offer tiered pricing for larger groups and community schools. 🎒
