Do we need any previous art experience to participate?

No artistic talent is required at all! Our workshops in Oulu are designed for absolute beginners. Our professional street artists will guide you through the basics, from how to hold the spray can to creating clean lines and shadows. By the end of the session, you'll be amazed at the masterpiece you've created, even if you've never picked up a can of paint before. It's all about having fun and being creative together!

What materials are included in the university workshop?

We provide everything you need for a complete graffiti experience. This includes professional-grade spray cans in a huge variety of colours, protective masks, gloves, and overalls to keep your clothes clean. We also provide the canvases or boards you'll be painting on. Just make sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothes you don't mind getting a tiny bit of dust on, and we'll handle the rest!

How long does a typical workshop last?

Standard university workshops usually last between 1.5 to 2.5 hours. This gives us enough time for a brief history of street art, a safety demo, practice sessions, and the final creation of your group or individual pieces. We can also customise the duration to fit into your student union schedule or event timeline if you have specific requirements. Just let us know your timeframe!

Is the spray paint safe to use for students?

Safety is our top priority. We use high-quality, professional equipment, including FFP2 or FFP3 masks to ensure no one breathes in fumes. We also provide gloves and protective suits. Our artists are experienced in managing groups and will give a thorough safety briefing before any paint is sprayed. We ensure the venue is well-ventilated or held outdoors to keep the environment safe for everyone involved.

Can you host the workshop directly on our university campus?

Absolutely! We can bring the workshop to your campus in Oulu, provided there is an appropriate outdoor space or a very well-ventilated indoor area. Alternatively, we have access to cool, gritty locations around the city that provide the perfect atmosphere for street art. We're flexible and can work with you to find the most convenient spot for your student group.

What is the maximum group size for a student event?

We are very flexible with group sizes! Whether you are a small student committee of 10 people or a massive freshers' week event with over 100 participants, we have the staff and materials to accommodate you. For very large groups, we often set up multiple 'stations' or work on a giant collaborative mural so that everyone stays engaged and active throughout the session.

How does the payment process work for university societies?

We understand that student budgets and university event planning can be complex. That’s why we don’t require any upfront payment to secure your booking. You can book your date with confidence, and payment is only handled after the workshop is completed. This makes the administration side much easier for student unions and societies in Oulu. Plus, we have backup artists ready to go, so your event is never cancelled!

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next university event in Oulu? It’s more than just painting; it’s about breaking down barriers and building something epic together. Here is why it works: 🔥

Stress relief: Take a break from the books and smash some stress with a spray can in hand. 🧠
Total inclusivity: You don't need to be an "artist" to join in—everyone can make something that looks professional.
Social media gold: Let's be honest, your student union Instagram will look incredible with photos of giant colorful murals. 📸
Team spirit: Collaborate on a large-scale piece that represents your society or faculty's identity.
Safety first: We provide top-tier protective gear, so you leave with great memories, not paint on your favourite hoodie. 👔
Zero risk: With our "pay after" policy and backup artist guarantee, your event planning is totally worry-free.

Step by step

Intro and inspiration: We start with a quick look at the history of graffiti and some cool street art examples to get your creative juices flowing. ✨
Gear up: Safety first! Everyone gets fitted with protective suits, gloves, and high-quality masks to keep the paint on the canvas and off you.
Technical demo: Our pro artists show you the "can-trol" basics—lines, dots, fades, and those all-important nozzle techniques. 🎨
Sketching your ideas: Grab a marker and map out your design on the board. Group projects often focus on a theme or your society's logo!
First layers: You'll start by filling in the big shapes and getting used to the pressure of the spray cans.
Adding details: This is where the magic happens! We'll teach you how to add shadows, highlights, and sharp outlines to make your art pop. 💥
Final touches: Add some "flairs" or splatters to give your piece that authentic street art look.
Group photo and cleanup: We'll snap some epic photos of your crew with your finished work before we pack up the gear. 📸

Local culture

Oulu isn't just a hub for technology and the "Silicon Canal"; it’s a city with a surprisingly gritty and creative edge. From the colourful street art tucked away in the Pikisaari district to the vibrant student culture at the University of Oulu and Oulu UAS, this city knows how to blend tradition with modern expression. Even when the winter frost bites, the local spirit remains warm and creative! Our workshops tap into this local energy, providing a space where students can escape the academic grind and contribute to the city's artistic vibe.

Fun Fact: Did you know Oulu is the world capital of Air Guitar? That same "let loose and have fun" energy is exactly what we bring to our graffiti workshops. No rules, just pure performance! 🎸

Whether you're based in Linnanmaa or Kontinkangas, we bring the vibe to you, making sure your student event is the one everyone talks about until graduation.

Pricing

Our university workshops are designed to be accessible and high-impact. Pricing for student groups in Oulu typically ranges from €30 to €65 per person. This variability depends on the number of participants, the amount of materials required, and whether you want to create individual canvases or a giant communal mural for your campus.

We believe in total transparency and zero stress—that's why we don't require any payment until after the workshop is finished. No hidden fees, just great art! 🎉
