How long does a university graffiti workshop usually last?

The duration of the session depends on your specific requirements and the number of participants. Generally, a university graffiti workshop in Kuopio lasts between 1.5 and 3 hours. This allows enough time for a basic introduction, safety briefing, practice on practice walls, and the final creation of a collaborative mural or individual canvases. We can also adapt the schedule to fit into a tighter seminar break or extend it for a full-day student festival activity!

Do we need any prior art experience or talent to join?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for absolute beginners. Our professional street artists will guide you through every step, starting with how to hold the spray can and control the pressure. You'll learn basic techniques like outlines, fills, and 'fading' before you start on your masterpiece. It’s all about having a go, expressing yourself, and enjoying the creative process with your fellow students. Everyone can create something they are proud of by the end!

What safety equipment do you provide for the students?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks to protect you from fumes, as well as disposable gloves and protective overalls to keep your clothes clean. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and old clothes just in case. Our workshops are held in well-ventilated areas or outdoors. Our instructors are experienced professionals who ensure a safe environment for everyone to experiment and have fun without any risks.

Can you host the graffiti workshop on our university campus?

Absolutely! We can bring the workshop directly to your campus in Kuopio, provided there is a suitable outdoor or well-ventilated indoor space. Alternatively, we have access to various local creative hubs and legal street art walls around the city. We’ll handle the logistics regardless of the location, ensuring all necessary materials and protective floors are in place so you can focus entirely on your artistic expression during the event.

What is the maximum group size for a student event?

We are extremely flexible! For smaller student groups or clubs, we can host intimate sessions for around 10 people. For larger university-wide events or orientation weeks, we can accommodate dozens or even hundreds of participants by rotating groups or creating a massive collaborative mural. Just let us know your expected attendance, and our team will provide enough artists and spray cans to ensure everyone gets plenty of 'can-time'.

Are the materials you use environmentally friendly?

Sustainability is important to us. We use professional spray cans with low VOC content whenever possible. We also ensure that all empty cans and materials are disposed of responsibly through local recycling programs in Kuopio. Additionally, by teaching graffiti in a controlled, legal environment, we help students understand the difference between artistic expression and illegal vandalism, promoting a respectful attitude towards the city's urban landscape and communal spaces.

Do we have to pay in advance for our university booking?

No upfront payment is required when you book your workshop! We believe in the quality of our service and want you to feel confident in your choice. You can settle the payment after the workshop has been successfully completed. This makes it much easier for university departments or student unions to manage their budgets and ensure that the event meets their expectations before the funds are released. Fun and satisfaction are our primary goals!

Local culture

Kuopio is more than just the heart of Savo; it's a city that balances its stunning lakeside views with a growing urban edge. While known for the iconic Puijo Tower and the bustling Kallavesi lake, the local street art scene is starting to blossom in unexpected corners. From clandestine legal spots to the vibrant murals popping up near the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) and Savonia campuses, Kuopio is embracing a modern, artistic vibe. 🎉

Fun fact: Did you know that Kuopio is home to one of Finland's most famous markets, the 'Mualiman napa' (The Navel of the World)? While you're enjoying our workshop, you're right at the centre of a city that values both tradition and bold modern expression. Bringing a graffiti workshop here means tapping into that local 'Savo' ingenuity—where creativity knows no bounds! 🎨
