Is the workshop safe for teenagers?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority. We provide all participants with high-quality FFP3 masks, protective gloves, and overalls to keep clothes clean. Our professional artists also begin every session with a thorough safety briefing, explaining how to use the spray cans properly and how to maintain a safe distance while working. We ensure a controlled environment where creativity can thrive without any risks.

Do the participants need to be good at drawing?

No prior experience is needed at all! Our youth projects are designed for everyone, from absolute beginners who have never touched a spray can to those who might have some artistic talent. Our artists guide the group through every step of the process, from basic lines to advanced shading, ensuring everyone feels proud of what they create by the end of the day.

How long does a typical youth graffiti project last?

Generally, our youth workshops last between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a proper introduction, technique practice, and the completion of a final masterpiece. We can also adapt the timing to fit into a specific youth centre schedule or school day if needed. For larger community projects in Kuopio, we can even spread the activity over multiple days.

What materials do we need to provide?

Everything is included! We bring the spray cans in a huge variety of colours, protective gear, masks, and the surfaces to paint on (like canvases or temporary wooden walls). If the project involves a permanent wall, we even handle the primer and preparation. You just need to bring your energy and wear some old shoes just in case!

What happens if it rains on the day of the workshop?

Weather in Kuopio can be unpredictable! For outdoor workshops, we always keep a close eye on the forecast. If rain is expected, we can often move the session to a covered outdoor area or use an indoor space with proper ventilation and floor protection. Alternatively, we can reschedule the session to a better day at no extra cost. We always have a backup plan!

How many participants can join at once?

We are very flexible with group sizes. For youth projects, we typically recommend groups of 10 to 30 people to ensure everyone gets enough individual attention from our artists. However, we have a large team of backup artists available, so we can easily cater to much larger groups of 100+ by bringing in extra instructors to keep the energy high and the quality top-notch.

Why should we book with Graffitifun instead of a local freelancer?

We offer a "no cure, no pay" approach for our initial planning and a 100% satisfaction focus. One of our biggest advantages is that we don't require upfront payments for many of our bookings—you can pay after the workshop is completed. Plus, we have a pool of backup artists ready to go, so you never have to worry about a session being cancelled last minute.

The experience

Why choose our graffiti workshops for your next youth initiative? It's about more than just paint on a wall – it's about building community and confidence! 🏆

Boosts Confidence: Seeing a massive, vibrant mural completed helps young people realise what they are capable of achieving.
Legal & Safe: We teach the difference between vandalism and street art, providing a safe, legal outlet for expression. 🔥
Professional Mentorship: Our artists are not just painters; they are mentors who share their passion and professional journey.
Teamwork in Action: Creating a large-scale piece requires communication and cooperation – essential life skills!
No Stress Booking: With backup artists and no upfront payment, we make the organiser's life easy.
Tailored Themes: We can theme the workshop around local Kuopio issues, school values, or community goals. 🎤

Step by step

Introduction & Safety: We start with a high-energy intro to graffiti culture and a vital safety briefing on how to use the equipment.
Sketching Your Ideas: Participants grab paper and pencils to brainstorm themes, tags, and 'pieces' they want to bring to life.
Can Control 101: Our artists demonstrate different nozzles (caps) and how to control spray pressure for thin lines or fat fills.
Tagging Practice: Everyone gets a chance to practice their 'tag' on a practice surface, getting a feel for the flow of the paint.
Outline Construction: We move to the main project, where the youth start sketching the large-scale outlines of their collaborative mural.
Colour Filling: This is where the magic happens! The group works together to fill in the designs with vibrant, popping colours.
Finesse & Details: Our pros show the kids how to add highlights, 3D shadows, and sharp 'second' outlines to make the art jump off the wall.
Final Reveal & Photos: We step back to admire the finished masterpiece and take group photos of the crew with their work.
Cleanup: We ensure the area is left tidy, removing all empty cans and protective materials!

Creative collaboration during a graffiti company outing

Local culture

Kuopio is more than just the famous Mualiman Napa (the "centre of the world") and its iconic market square. It’s a city that values its youth and its growing urban vibe. While the city is known for its beautiful nature, there is a rising appreciation for street art in districts like Petonen and Saaristokaupunki. Our workshops tap into this local spirit, giving Kuopio's youth a chance to contribute to the city's visual identity in a legal and constructive way. ✨

Fun Fact: Did you know that the Kalakukko, Kuopio's famous traditional fish pastry, is often jokingly called "the original street food"? While we don't recommend painting on pastries, we certainly bring that same local pride to every mural we create! 🎨
